I always send big shout-outs to race volunteers and to the crowd. A high-energy crowd provides motivation and encouragement to all runners and is particularly useful at creating distractions during challenging sections. I love looking for signs throughout a race and have seen several that have elicited a wide range of reactions from surprise to laughter to “Why I oughta…!” I know you all have that ONE sign that you just can’t forget, found hilarious, couldn’t believe someone actually wrote that, etc.

Last year ,at least I think it was last year, on the GA marathon course there was a gentleman sitting in a lawn chair. Next to him was a sign that said Run Quietly, I am really hung over.
Maybe not inspirational but it made me laugh.

Haha!
Makes me wonder if he really was…

by handle do you mean my whole name? that is what we have to go by on facebook
Your Facebook name, yes.
Some people go by completely different names on Facebook, and I want to make sure everyone gets the entries they earned.
I definitely don’t want to miss one.
Don’t POOP out(out in small letters)
Hehe, and how very appropriate for those long distances.
I already left the comment on the “funny” sign but it seems to have disappeared into cyber space! My friend and member of our local run club made a sign for a local half marathon. We run with the F’NRC (frankfort-new lenox running club) and we affectionaly call ourselves the F’N Runners. She made a sign that said, “F’N Runners ….. F’N Rock”. Made me smile when as I ran past it both times.
No worries! I saw it.
I always go through and read comments before approval. WordPress used to have an issue with spam, so I always check comments. I love reading what everyone has to say! Love the sign you made!

A girl from my running club made a GREAT sign for us during a local half last year. We are the F’NRC (Frankfort-New Lenox Running Club) and we affectionately call ourselves the F’N Running Club. She made a sign that said, F’N Runners F’N Rock!!!
Made us all smile as we passed it.
Love the play on words!

One of my favorite signs has always been “Toenails Are for Sissies.” But a new favorite from a 10K a few weekends ago was “Pain now, WINE later.” I like a good wine.
Funniest race sign: “If this race was easy, it’d be your mom.”
I already follow Georgia Marathon on Facebook and have left them a comment!
