1. Β Friday again? Β The days definitely go by much faster when you are on vacation. Β I know that during the school year I am always aware of each day and get so excited on Fridays. Β On vacation I sometimes lose track and have no idea when a day is Monday, Tuesday, etc.
2. Β On Monday, my sister and nephews went to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children. Β It is a great place to volunteer and you end up leaving really good about yourself. Β The last time I was thereΒ was almost two years ago. Β Yikes! Β I need to make it a priority to go there more often.
We were there from 2:30-4:30 pm. Β My nephews LOVE Home Run Inn and we stopped there for dinner. Β We got home in time to watch “The Bachelorette” and before the bad weather began rolling into the Chicago area. Β Luckily, it was just wind and lots of rain but I know other places had it even worse.
3. Β I bought a new running gear, the Garmin Forerunner 220. Β So far I’ve run with it twice and like it. Β The only problem I have is that I cannot get it to sync with my heart monitor. Β I have to run 8 miles on Saturday with the CES group so hopefully one of the coaches there can help me.
4. Β I know we all have good and bad runs. Β I love it when I have a good run but I love it even more when it is on a day that I had no desire to run. Β I did not run yesterday morning because I was planning to run in the evening with the ladies from Fleet Feet. Β Well, I did a few errands with my mom and got home after 6pm. Β I was tired and decided to rest and then go running. Β Everything hurt so I took an ibuprofen. Β Then I decided not to go. Β I guess I must have been feeling guilty and I reminded myself that I would not skip any of my marathon training runs planned by my coach (I’ve missed one) so I got dressed and went out for my run. Β You know what? Β It was AWESOME and I felt great. Β I ran better than I expected and that made me happy.
5. Β I received my grade for my Spring class. Β I am disappointed that I got a “B”. Β I know it is still a great grade but the class was so easy and pretty much an easy “A”. Β For nine weeks I listened to the lectures and took notes. Β I also did all of my homework and pretty much got all of the problems correct. Β The deal breaker was the final presentation on the last day of class. Β It was worth 50 percent of my grade. Β I know I did not rock it but I didn’t think I did that bad. Β I get really nervous speaking in front of a group (definitely not a problem with little kids) so I am just mad at myself because I messed up on the presentation. Β My next (and final class) starts in August.
What has been your best volunteer experience? Β Do you get nervous speaking in front of a group? Β
I used to get nervous about public speaking, but not so much any more. Enjoy your time off! And don’t beat yourself up about that grade. In the long run, no one knows what your grades were…
I guess you are right. As long as I pass my classes then I am happy. π
50% of the total grade??? That is pretty ridiculous, if you ask me. It is basically saying that work throughout the semester doesn’t really matter. And I agree with above comment- no one will ever know or care your grades, and a “B” is still good. (I do understand that perfectionism, though.)
I hope the Garmin starts cooperating with you. I like mine for racing and workouts. It is so much lighter and easier to use than my previous one. I have the same model, but the purple one. (I don’t use a HR monitor, though.)
Yes, it is ridiculous. I did work hard to do my homework – even if I waited till Tuesday night to finish it!
I wanted to get the purple one but the store did not have it with a heart monitor. Well, if I can’t get it to work then I will return it and get the purple one.
