As mentioned in this post, I’m attempting to get my own BQ. Β I am excited to be training using again the Hansons Method. Β In a nutshell, this training is based on the concept of cumulative fatigue. Β You train your body to run often so that you are frequently running on tired legs. Β The idea is to run this way so that during the last miles of a race you are prepared to push through the final miles. Β I purchased a new Hansons Method Marathon Plan and now will be running 5 days (instead of 6) a week.Β

Week #11, June 5-11

I decided to do the Lake Michigan Marathon on September 3rd. Β I have not registered for it (cannot imagine it selling out) and am excited to train for it.

Monday’s run went great! Β Faster than I was supposed to but it must have been the weather or knowing that Tuesday was the last day of school.

Finally on Summer Break!!! Β My last day was Tuesday but I feel like I’ve been off for weeks (I am currently in Utah in vacation mode). Β I was done by 4pm and waited for two of my coworkers to finish up before heading out to eat and drink. Β A different room will be waiting for me in August. Β

I did not run on Tuesday but instead did my workout on Wednesday. Β I did not want to get up because I wanted to cuddle with Lola. Β My workout was 2M Warm Up,Β 10×1 min @95% effort w/90 sec jog rest, andΒ 2M Cool Down (done at the gym). Β It went better than expected! Β I love that I am able to set up my workouts on Garmin Connect and then have it sync to my phone.

On Thursday I went back to the gym for a tempo run. Β In total I ran 5.02 miles (1M Warm Up, 3 Mile Tempo, and 1M Cool Down).

Friday was a travel day to Utah where I met a few bloggers and then Saturday I ran the Utah Valley Half Marathon. Β I am planning to have a recap soon. Β It was a fun but challenging race. Β The course was beautiful but it was mostly downhill and my legs were sore and tired by mile 9. Β I got a beautiful jacket instead of a shirt. Β I love the colors!

Total mileage for the week: 28.26 miles
Total mileage for this training cycle: Β 238.97 miles
Total mileage for the year: 287.16 miles

I’m linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap and Courtney for her Training Recap Link Up!

Hoping everyone had a good week!

  1. Looks like a solid week of training for you and hooray for summer break! Congrats on your half marathon this weekend – I love the jacket! I wish more races would give out items like this, instead of shirts.
Thanks for linking up for the Weekly Wrap!

    • Thanks Kim! Yes, I agree about the items races should give to runners. I remember when we would get long sleeve cotton shirts. I loved those because I would use them to sleep in during the winter.

  2. I LOVE that jacket! Isn’t it great when the swag is not the typical (usually cotton) shirt? I’m excited to hear about Utah! I have serious FOMO for not being there….

  3. Nice jacket! I’m sure that downhill course was a challenge – it really does take a toll on your legs. Can’t wait for the recap!

  4. Wow, you put in a good many miles race week! I just can’t run much at all race week…my legs just handle the distance better when they’re fresh. Although that didn’t seem to help me on that race! It really was more challenging than I had anticipated!

I’m so glad we finally got to meet and hoping there will be more opportunities in the future! Enjoy your summer Zenaida!

    • Thank you! I wonder if my legs wouldn’t have been so sore if I hadn’t run that much? Oh well, guess I won’t know anymore. 😜

I don’t think any of us expected it to be that challenging.

  5. What a cool jacket!! Sounds like a good week for you! Looking forward to your recap! It was fun seeing everyone’s pics on IG!

  6. I was having FOMO in VA seeing all the blogging ladies together πŸ™‚ The pics of Utah were incredible, it looked really pretty.
You did a lot of training for race week πŸ™‚ That is good! Enjoy your summer break.
I like that jacket, I think Holly picked the same one!

Thank you for your comment!
