I rarely run when it is dark.  During the summer it is bright as early as 5am and doesn’t get dark till about 8:30pm.  The few times I run while it is dark, I wear a reflective vest and a headlamp.  I was more than happy to test and review Brilliant Reflective Safety Strips.  The company sent me both Iron-On and Stick-On strips.

So what exactly are these strips?  They’re pieces of tape that you can stick on to your gear so that when light hits you, you are seen.  They’re easy to peel and can be placed on pretty much all of your running gear such as shoes, shirts, hats.  They’re available in black, red, blue, and purple so they either blend in or stand out.

My niece liked them on her shoes.

I used them in my shirt, shoes, and running hat.

I will admit that I removed them from my shoes to put on another pair and somehow one of the strips fell off during my race.  However, they stayed on the shirts even after washing them.

I haven’t used the Iron-On strips but am excited to use them on my Oiselle Power Stretch Beanie and Softshell Gloves.  <<Definitely not ready for cold weather as I am enjoying the cool and fall like weather we are having in Chicago.

My latest running song is “Mi Gente”.  Have you heard it?  Not a big fan of the video but I do like the beat and it makes me want to dance too.  🙂

I had some great runs this week.  Monday and Tuesday was 5.02 miles.  Fall weather is here and that makes the runs much more enjoyable.  I was pleased and surprised with my negative splits!

On Saturday I ran the Run Mag Mile 10K.  It was so much fun!  The weather was perfect and it was fun running down Michigan Avenue (it reminded me of RnR Las Vegas when the strip was closed for the race).  I didn’t get a PR (old one is from 2010) but I ran faster than I thought I could and also had a blast.  I think that definitely counts more than a PR, right?  🙂

So what did you think of the song “Mi Gente”?  What is your favorite running song now?

I’m linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap.  This week’s host is Sara @ Sara Runs This Town.  Please stop by her blog and show her some love!

Hoping everyone had a good week!

34 Comments on Brilliant Reflective, my latest favorite running song, and I am still running.

  1. I’ve got a whole bunch of new running songs on my playlist and I can’t quite decide which is my favorite. Walk on Water, Halfway Home, Nobody Speak, and Found What I”ve Been Looking For are all getting road tested.

  2. It’s great the strips didn’t come off in the wash. I assumed they would and you would constantly have to reapply them. I do run in the dark in the fall and winter and these would be perfect. I need some new tunes to run with!

    • I guess it depends on the material/item. I just washed my Nuun hat from this morning and part of the strip did peel off. I put it back on and hopefully it will stick.

  3. My favorite running song is still AC/DC’s Long Way to the Top if You Wanna Rock & Roll…that has been on my playlist forever (and well never be deleted). Those reflective strips look great!

  4. Awesome job at the Mag Mile 10k.
I’m also loving the sticky/iron on reflective strips! You can make anything safe to wear on dark runs. How do you like working with bib rave?

    Thanks for linking up!

    • I am definitely enjoying working with them! Great products and many cool and nice people in the group.

  5. Congratulations on your MagMile run! I’ve always thought I’d like to run that race….maybe one day!

Cool idea with the stick on reflective strips! I don’t run early enough to need any …but that may change now that I’ve committed to the marathon distance. I’ll have to check that out come winter. 🙂

  6. I do run in the dark – and drive in the dark and am amazed at what a difference reflective stripes can make in my ability to spot runners. I haven’t made a new playlist in ages ….

  7. I hadn’t heard of those strips before, thanks for sharing! I have to figure out some sort of running in the dark solution now that there’s less daylight.

  8. Congrats on the race!! I say if you run it better than expected that is just as good as PR 🙂
I like the song, can’t understand a word lol but I like beat!
The srips are super cool, I need some to add to my back in the morning! I do run in the dark all the time 🙂

  9. Great job on the 10K! Running faster than you thought you would while having fun is definitely an accomplishment!

Thank you for your comment!
