β’ August flew by!Β Β My mom and I went on a short trip to San Antonio followed by a few days off and then back to work.Β I have 21 students with a few well behaved students and a few not so well behaved.Β They talk too much.Β πΒ Honestly, I like kids that talk because they know how to communicate and I can have an actual conversation with them.Β However, there are times in which they need to be quiet but a few keep going on and on.Β A mom already complained that I am mean and that I yell too much.Β π
β’ I have a new running coach.Β I am currently working with Mary and have had some great workouts.Β I love it!Β My favorite have been 6×1 minute and 8×1 minute intervals.
β’ Bought new shoes.Β Β I am a HUGE Brooks fan.Β I took advantage of the sale on the Brooks site and purchased a few pairs of the Launch 5.Β However, some styles didn’t work out for me (too stiff) and I sent them back (they have a GREAT return policy!).Β I also ended up buying the Levitate.Β These two and another pair of the Launch are in my shoe rotation.Β Β
I am eyeing their new shoes that came out early this month – the Bedlam.Β Love the color but do I need another pair?
β’Β Ran 82.10 miles.Β I did not meet my goal this month.Β I am now 63% done of my yearly goal.Β There are 119 days left in 2018 and I still need to run 442 miles to achieve my goal.
β’ Total time running was 17:06:52.
β’ 19 days of running.Β With Mary I have been running 5 days a week.Β Sometimes I have 1 or 2 quality sessions (hard and fast workouts) and the rest are easy runs (3-6 miles).Β Β
β’ I didn’t have any races in August.Β Β I am excited about 2 races in September – Run Mag Mile and ZOOMA Great Lakes.
β’ Final Thoughts:Β Even though August was “low” in mileage, I am happy with how it went.Β I am enjoying my runs and am happy to be working again with Mary.
So how did August go for you?
Linking up withΒ Marcia,Β Patti, andΒ ErikaΒ for Tuesdays on the Run.
It helps that I had vacation in the middle of the month. I’m looking forward to September and fall weather. I get to start tapering in a couple weeks!
Yes to fall weather! That is my favorite running season.
Sounds like a nice end to the summer.
I also love Brooks (although Newtons are my go-tos for speedwork/races, although then again, I’ve also raced in Brooks).
Ghosts are my go-to. I tried the Launch, which I like, but don’t love. Have heard good things about Levitate but haven’t tried them.
Years ago I ran in Newtons and actually liked those too. Two years ago ran in Mizunos but there was something about them that I did not like. But since then have run mostly in Brooks.
I have run in all of those & actually like all of those, too. For me it’s Brooks for easy runs & Newtons for speed/long — I’d wear them for all runs, frankly, but then my achilles starts to ache.
I go back and forth with Brooks Adrenalines and Mizuno Wave Inspires, but currently am back in the Brooks. I did see the Bedlams…interesting! They are a support/stability shoe, and that’s my gig π
I love new shoes:) Especially Brooks! August definitely went fast and I can’t believe it’s back to school time already. Hope it goes well with the new coach!
I wish I could wear Brooks and I’ve tried a few times but no bueno. I hope the weather for Mag Mile is ok for you this weekend. I’m watching that Hurricane Gordon rain head up this way…
Bummer that Brooks don’t work for you. Man, it has been raining a lot these past few days. Crossing my fingers we have decent weather on Saturday.
Looks like you had a great August! I like the new sneakers that you purchased from Brooks.
Thanks Kim!
Congrats on your month – even though you didn’t hit your mileage goal, that’s a heck of a lot of miles in my eyes π
Hope you have a great year with your chatty students!
Thanks! I am still pleased with how I did this month. Not my best but also not my worst.
