It is race week! By the time you read this post I would have run the Missoula Half Marathon and will be on my way back home. I am excited to have run in another state and to be so much closer to completing my goal. Â
Well, let’s recap this week leading up to the race. I plan to have a race recap on Tuesday.
Monday was 4 miles to start off the week. It was humid and I thought it was going to rain. It did but later in the day.
I was very tired Tuesday morning and instead of running I slept in and did my quality workout on Wednesday. It was a fun one! I did 2 miles warm up, 4×30 seconds with 1 minute walking recovery, run 15 minutes at marathon pace, 4×30 seconds with 1 minute walking recovery, and 1 mile cool down. I loved the 30 second intervals! I even got negative splits on the last set of intervals.
Thursday was 5 miles and it was another hot one too. Even Lola was proud of me! 🙂
I made colored pasta for my students and they loved it. They also made a lion and a giraffe (forgot to take a picture of the giraffe) with paint and paper plates. They had a blast! We have open house on Monday so I wanted to have all of their projects done for parents to see .
On Saturday I was supposed to do a 20 minute run in Missoula. I didn’t. I went to the expo to get my bib and then met some friends for some drinks and an early dinner. By the time I got back to my hotel I was tired and just wanted to relax. Â
The race has a 6am start time so I have to be up at 4am to get ready. Another Oiselle friend that was also running offered to pick me up at the hotel and take me to the shuttle pick up area. Then it is about a 20 minute bus ride to the start line. MT is one hour behind Chicago so you bet by 8pm I was ready to go to sleep. 🙂
I finished the month of June with 106.52 miles. I am pleased with that number and it is so far my highest this year.
Linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down.
What a busy week! I’m excited to hear about your race in Montana! I’ve never been there, but have heard it’s quite scenic. Thanks for linking with us!.
It is a nice course and can see why people like it. I had heard many people rave about it but it is so expensive here.
wow great mileage for June for you! Can’t wait to hear about the half marathon today. Congrats and thanks for linking up
Thanks Deborah. I am happy with my mileage this month. Let’s see how it goes for July and August as I train for more half marathons.
Congrats on adding another state! Can’t wait to read about it. Rachel was always trying to get me to do a shake out run before halfs. I just don’t like them!
Mmmm, sushi. 🙂
Thanks Judy! I should have run in the morning before my flight. I was awake anyway. I love sushi and sometimes eat it the day before a race.
I love sushi the day before the race. Seriously, though, I love it anytime. 🙂
Nice job on your monthly mileage and I hope that the race went well today. I can’t wait to hear all about it!
Thanks Kim. The race went OK. It was a nice course but I thought Delaware was prettier. 🙂
Congrats on another state! I hope it was a blast!
Thank you! Missoula is a pretty course but I did struggle at this race.
I can’t wait to read about your race! I hope it went well. Montana is such an interesting place – hilly in spots and flat as a pancake in others.
It is a nice and flat course. I was doing OK in the beginning but then struggled. Oh well still pleased and happy to do this race.
I can only imagine how stunning it was to run in Missoula, Montana!!! That is a bucket list for sure. Love the kid crafts and pics of Lola 🙂 Looking forward to the race recap – hope it was a good one!!
I had heard so many great things about it and I guess my expectations were high. Don’t get me wrong, it is a pretty course but honestly I didn’t think it was all that. The course in DE was just as pretty too.
Sounds like a full week! I hope the race went well and that you had a fun weekend 🙂
The course is pretty but I did struggle in the race. Oh well another state done.
Montana is pretty!! I hope your race went well. Looking forward to reading your race recap! Good job on your June miles 🙂
It is pretty! The course is also flat which was nice.
