Another week of running 6 days for a total of 25.69 miles. During the week it wasn’t too hot (but it was humid) but it did warm up on Friday and Saturday. We were warned.
I’ve run 125.3 miles for the California Coast 500. I need an additional 124.7 by September 7. At this rate I am estimating that I will be done at the end of August.
Tuesday was 3 miles at easy pace. That means running in zones 1 or 2.
On Thursday my workout was 2 sets of 3:15 with 1:20 recovery. I did not want to get up but knew I had to because then it would be too hot out there. I did pretty good and I was proud of myself.
Friday morning I ran 3 miles again. I didn’t think I was going that “fast” but it was humid and well you know what happened. Still I did pretty well.
Saturday morning I ran 8.15 miles. I woke up at 4am and was undecided on whether I should go to the lake or run by my house. I decided to go to the lake. I noticed right away that I wasn’t as tired as I usually am in the morning. On Friday I told my coach that I was not going to stress out about pace or training zones. I ran and walked whenever I got the high heart rate alert. It worked out just fine. At this point, because it is summer, that is about all I can do.
I was a little annoyed that there were a bunch of teenagers (no masks) hanging out (it was 6am so they must have been out there from the night before). Oh and I saw a slow moving car with the passenger door open and someone’s head sticking out. I think you know what she was doing. I was grossed out. This was in a different area that I never run by and don’t think I will again. Oh, and I was disgusted by all of the garbage that people left too.
I finished Week 1 of Pelothon 2020 of team #LegendsofFun. I took 6 classes. When I first signed up for this challenge I thought it would be all cycling classes. Boy was I wrong! I am glad for this challenge because I am being exposed to other instructors and different classes. I actually enjoyed the meditation class. 🙂 I know I said I would never take another running class , but I took one today and it was actually fun! I enjoyed the music and the 20 minutes went by fast.
Overall it was a good week. I am enjoying my time off, but still need to finish decluttering. I am reading “The Hummingbird’s Daughter” and need to finish it by next Sunday to discuss it with friends on a Zoom book club meeting.
Linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down.
Great job on your mileage this week! I didn’t do any outdoor runs this week – mentally I just didn’t want to deal with the heat and humidity.
The Pelothon 2020 challenge is fun so far, and you picked the best team 🙂 I’m looking forward to the live classes this week.
I cannot believe how much I’ve been missing out! So many different classes and the live classes is something new for me as well. I feel like a kid in a candy store.
You are on fire with your miles! Nice work. That lakefront run sounds a little iffy! Hopefully there were other runners out there when you were running!
I am pleased with my mileage. Thanks! For the main part of the run there were other runners. There weren’t any in that sketchy area and I don’t plan on running there again (it is in the lakefront area by the Planetarium).
Props for another great week! Yes, anytime you see a teenager at 6:00AM it is a safe bet that they are not just getting up. My stepsons had virtual boy scout camp this week and they had to get up by 9 every morning, the poor kids.
When I was a teenager I don’t think I ever stayed up that late/early. I think in college I did a few times. Now? No way!
You are doing so great with all of your runs! Yikes about that lakefront run though.
Haha, yeah, I don’t plan on running by that area again. Lesson learned.
That run sounds more interesting than you wanted it to be. 😛 The heat is downright dangerous – glad you were able to get out early. I love Jess Sims — glad you liked her treadmill run.
No kidding! When I saw the car I actually stopped just to see what was happening and then regretted it.
I am going to check out her other classes. I didn’t realize till later that it was a treadmill run and not an outdoor run. Doesn’t really matter because I still enjoyed it.
Wow nice job with your 6 days of running again! I also enjoyed taking new Peloton classes with new instructors this week. Thanks for linking up and have a great week
Thanks, Deborah! You are also rocking it with your classes. I know you and Kim have taken so many classes and I have been missing out. Time to catch up! 🙂
Your running mileage is great. You are getting those miles in! Good for you on the Peloton classes too. It’s tough making myself get out early with this heat. Even if I take it easy, I am drenched by the time I am done. Stay safe out there!
Thank you. This heat is affecting many people. But we are doing what we can to stay safe out there.
Peloton has done a great job of getting new subscribers (via the free subscriptions during quarantine) and now introducing the subscribers to a wider array of trainers. Great idea! I am trying out a different subscription service right now and I had to stop the first two classes right after I started because I just couldn’t take the instructors. haha! Great job on your workouts this week – I agree, summer running is just “what it is”. The heat is tough!
I’ve missed out so much these past few months. I still cannot get over the many different classes and instructors. Who needs a gym membership with those options?
Great job on your mileage! Glad the Pelothon is going well! I’m feeling a little FOMO, but I honestly don’t know if it would be a good fit for me.
I think you would have enjoyed the challenge. There are so many options to choose from and I know you like doing a variety of activities.
Congrats on such a consistent week of running.
Same with Pelethon. I let my membership drop since I don’t have a treadmill or bike.
My state challenge is going well but I can use walking miles which has helped. I have until Aug 31.
I did 30:30 intervals for 11 miles with a friend – so painless. I wonder why one would run faster – it was a 15 min pace but hey who cares?
The membership doesn’t just offer cycling classes, but that was one of the main reasons I got it too (well, with the bike too). I am now taking the running classes and I am liking them (I don’t have a treadmill either and run outside). There are also meditation, yoga, bootcamp, walking, and stretching classes. So many options!
I do love their running classes but I don’t have enough data to use them outside my house. Even if you download, they still use data. I rarely exercise indoors but when the gym opens, I may sign back up.
As for the pace, now I don’t care about it anymore. I used to but what is the point? It is HOT. There is no need to run fast (unless it is a speed workout) since I am not racing these long runs.
Same here…just out there for exercise.
Sounds like a great week of running, Zenaida! I have noticed more garbage just along normal roads. What is wrong with people? Remember the ads with Native Americans back in the 70s? I think about that.
Summer running means doing what you can to survive the run. 🙂
I do not remember those commercials. 🙂
The garbage bothers me. I agree, what is wrong with people. I hate it when people litter.
Must’ve been a bit before your time. They actually worked, too!
When it’s so hot out, listening to your body is so important. Sometimes just getting the run done is enough. Keep up the good work – what a solid week you’ve had. And I like that you’re also doing the pelothon challenge. I’ve seen so many other bloggers are doing it too!
Thank you! The challenge has been fun. I am glad I signed up for it too.
I’ve had plenty of runs where I’m out there early and I see people still ending their evening (in rough shape…) what different lives we live! Great job getting out there and getting in your long run in such crazy heat! Amazing work!
I am sure that is quite a sight!!
Great week for you! Way to stay motivated in this heat. Yikes on the lakefront people hanging out. Kind of sketchy. Stay safe.
I doubt I will run by that area again. Or next time I will pay more attention. One teenager and I am out of there!
Great job this week! Sounds like an interesting long run. Never good to see people who are likely still out from the night before!
Haha, I learned my lesson! 😜
People have absolutely forgotten how to people! I hope the next time you run the lake, it is better. So gross.
How was the book? I am ready for a new one.
I haven’t finished the book yet and am already bored with it. Part of me wants to stop but then I also want to continue because I am almost done with it.
Great job on your week of workouts! Hope this week is going equally as well!
Thank you!
