Hello there!Β  I am finally on Winter Break!Β  How is it that I made it through almost 4 months of teaching online (again)?Β  I’ve had some great but also horrible moments.Β  We’re supposed to head back on January 11th so we’ll see how it will be like with a hybrid schedule.

This week was a blur because the days went by fast.Β  Β My goal was to make it to Friday.Β  πŸ™‚

I went to school on Monday morning so I had to get out earlier than usual.Β  It was dark but not too bad.Β  The next day I went out again while it was dark and didn’t like what I saw.Β  Ice!Β  Dang, it freaked me out because I am always afraid of falling.Β  I did see a pretty sunrise!

Thursday morning I slept in again and just had time to run 20 minutes instead of 3 miles.Β  It’s weird how sometimes I have no problem waking up at 5am but then struggle to get up at 7am.

Saturday was 6 miles with the last 2 at a faster pace (11:00-11:15).Β  Mile splits were 11:11 and 11:08.Β  It made me happy that I ran the last two miles without stopping but just quickly slowed down a little bit to cross the street.Β  I was surprised at how warm it felt – almost 40 degrees.Β  Well, to me that feels warm for December.Β  πŸ™‚

This week we had different themes to get into the holiday spirit.Β  I don’t have pictures for all of them but just the “fun” ones.Β  It was fun to see the students get into the spirit too.Β  You can tell that in the last photo (Thursday) I look very TIRED.Β  Or is it the camera?

I applied again to be on the Brooks Team and was rejected again.Β  I also applied to be a Oiselle VolΓ©e Leader and was not accepted.Β  I am bummed about it but am happy with the two ambassadorships I did receive (Koala Clip and PickyBars).Β  Hopefully I will get good news about Nuun.

Any fans of “The West Wing”?Β  I am on season 7 and really like the show.Β  I still cannot believe I never watched it when it was on regular TV.Β  There were a few episodes that were boring and/or I was lost because I had no idea what they were talking about – politics is UGLY.Β  The best part is seeing a Latino candidate for the presidency and winning.Β  Yes, I did read about it.Β  Next show to watch is “Selena” though I’ve been hearing positive and negative reviews.

Pleased with how my running went this week.Β  Except for switching my workouts on Thursday and Friday, I did just what my coach asked me to do.Β  So far the weather hasn’t been too bad and I am really hoping it stays like that a bit longer..or at least till Spring.

My sister sent this to me and it brought a HUGE smile to my face.Β  So many emotions.Β  The past couple of months have been rough.Β  I have struggled but also know that I have done the best I can.Β  No matter what, I know my kids like my class and care about me just like I care about them.Β  Believe it or not, but I will miss them during break.

Thank you teacher!Β  See you tomorrow!

30 Comments on Weekly Run Down: Week #2 of training for a 10k and being rejected

  1. Hooray for being on Winter break! I hope that you’re able to relax these next few weeks.

I’ve never watched the West Wing but have heard it’s so good. There are so many great TV shows that I never watched – I need to change that!

  2. Yay for winter break! I hope you can relax and enjoy your time off. We had some ice here this week too so I didn’t run outside in the dark. Even running during the day today was tricky to avoid slipping!

  3. Congrats on making it to winter break! I started watching the West Wing after it came out but long enough ago that it was on DVD, so wow that was a really long time ago. Definitely on my list of all time favorite shows.

  4. I can’t believe you’re still streaking! Despite the large snowfall, I was able to get 6 miles in my neighborhood today & it wasn’t too icy. You have to time it right — it’s been very cold, too, so later in the day the melt tends to ice up.

Obviously you know I loved re-watching the West Wing! I couldn’t believe how relevant it is to today. We finished it up just about election day, too, so the timing was perfect.

    Enjoy that vacation, Zenaida!

  5. I applied for Brooks also, and was (also LOL) rejected. It’s a blessing because I’m really busy with BibRave stuff (just finished the Turtle Gloves, still doing the IL Criss Cross Challenge, and just jumped into the Allstate HC Houston). It’s a lot of fun, but lots of details to keep straight (as you know). Still streaking, go YOU!!! Happy Winter Break!

    • I can imagine how busy you are with BibRave. Even with no live races this year I know there were still many campaigns going on. I am curious now how Brooks picked their ambassadors. No matter what I still love their shoes! πŸ™‚

  6. Given how much you love Brooks, I’m disappointed that you were rejected. πŸ™ You’d make an awesome ambassador. Have a restful break this Christmas! You deserve it. Looking forward to the new year – hopefully it will be a bit less dramatic, boring even!

  7. Enjoy your time off. You deserve it. We have a lot of snow and it is very hard to find a place to run.

I have gotten rejected so many times that I have given up applying. I don’t have the readership. They don’t want the average runner. And that’s what I am.

I was a NUUN ambassador but I didn’t see much benefit to it and many of the others.

Congrats on your streak… That’s dedication.

  8. I hope you have the most incredible winter break. You deserve all the time to recharge. You have gone so above and beyond for your students, and I hope you get to see systems returning to normal in the new year. I hope.

  9. Awww, I love that cartoon. It’s so sweet!

The lighting is very different and you’re closer to the camera in that last picture so that probably has something to do with you looking tireder.

I hope you have a wonderful winter break! Merry Christmas, Zenaida!

  10. Enjoy your winter break! The holiday class themes look so fun. We’ve been VERY lucky with the weather so far, although it looks like we’re getting a cold snap. Way to get up and out there early. Not always easy to do!

Thank you for your comment!
