Hey there!Β How is everyone doing?Β Did you all have a nice Christmas?Β It was low key here again.Β I made mole with my mother and it turned out good.Β It needed a bit more chicken flavor so we spiced it up the next day and now it is even better.Β Mole always tastes better the next day.
It was nice to be off this week.Β I did relax and finished watching The West Wing.Β I wasn’t too crazy about Season 7 but overall enjoyed the show.Β It was so sad about Leo but it made me happy to see a Latino president.Β One day.Β One day.Β π
I ate leftover pozole from my cousin.
Relaxed with the cats.
Wednesday morning was a “fun” run.Β I had to do 5 set of intervals (5 minutes/6 minutes) at different paces.Β It was windy that morning and didn’t think I would complete the workout.Β Once I was out there I realized it wan’t that bad.Β I did better than expected.Β My coach likes to remind me that I am tougher than I think and that I can do more than I think I can.Β π
Thursday and Friday was COLD.Β I had to run 3 miles on Thursday but instead ran 20 minutes.Β Since I didn’t run the 3 miles on Thursday, I knew I had to do it on Friday.Β Ha, had to?Β No way.Β I talked myself into doing only 1 mile to continue with the streak.Β Today is day #121.Β I was this close to ending my running streak because of how cold it was.
Saturday’s run was 7 miles.Β I woke up very early and was out the door at 6am.Β It was 19 degrees but I had two tops, two pants, and gloves and felt comfortable.Β I felt tired but also good after my run.Β Such a weird combination.
Tuesday morning my coworker and I delivered presents for our students.Β It took us almost 3 hours to deliver 44 presents.Β I met a few of my students and almost cried because I was so happy to see them.Β I gave them a notebook, pencils, markers/color pencils, crayons, and highlighters.Β Students are supposed to go back to the classroom on January 25th but I don’t know at the moment how many of those will be my students.
Linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Run Down.
That was so nice of you to deliver gifts! I’m sure they really appreciated it. Glad you are enjoying your time off and relaxing!
It was cheaper than mailing them. My coworker said that if we are virtual again next year, we will send them a gift card.
It truly amazes me how creative (and big hearted) teachers are. I’m sure your students appreciated their gifts — and have no idea how long that took you.
Running in the wind is tiring. Running in the wind & cold is even worse! So good job keeping up your streak, Zenaida! Sounds like you had a fairly relaxing week off.
Thanks, Judy. I know I complain a lot about school but I do love my kids!
Complain away! Your job was hard before the Pandemic! That you love your kids is evident. π
Enjoy your time off. You deserve it.
Congrats on your streak.
I know that exact feeling. Too tired to run and then after you feel amazing.
Isnβt it weird how running makes us feel that way?
I guess thatβs why we keep at it.
Wow, you are so thoughtful to get and give gifts to your students. You really show how much they matter. I know cold weather running is all about putting on the right gear, but I whimped out over bundling up this week.
Ugh, too many bundles isnβt comfortable either.
Running at 6AM in the dead of winter is really impressive! I’m finding that the longer winter goes on the more flexible I am about what temperature I will run outside in.
Last year I would head out at 5 so I could be at work by 7am.
So glad that you are relaxing on your well deserved Winter Break!
How nice of you to not only make those gifts, but also deliver them to your students. You’re such a great teacher!
Thanks, Kim. It was a lot of work delivering the gifts but so much cheaper than sending them via mail.
How lovely of you to deliver gifts to your students!
Great job on your runs this week! It got cold and windy out there this week..I’m over winter already!
Your weather was worse than mine. You did an awesome job!!
Crushing those runs again this week! Hope you enjoy your time off this week and relax a bit. Thanks for linking
Thank you! ππ
What a nice gesture delivering all those gifts to the students! Great job keeping the streak alive…it can be tough on those really cold days!
I have to keep reminding myself that I can stop this running streak whenever I want. Winter is here so the streak will depend on the weather here. No treadmill so the least I will run is 1 mile.
How nice of you to give gifts to your students! That’s how we felt, adopting one of our families at work. It’s such a good feeling!
Yesterday was cold, but Christmas day was colder! Once I got moving, it wasn’t so bad.
I agree! I really was surprised to have run 7 miles on Saturday.
The pozole looks delicious. How awesome to get gifts for your students.
It was tiring but felt good to drop off the gifts.
Good for you for getting that tough workout done! Yes, you are strong! Your list is funny, but oh so true I’m sure. And dang, up and running at 6am on Sunday in that cold? You go girl!!
I used to be out at 5am in order to be at school by 7. I donβt think I can do that again. π¬π¬
That was so sweet of you to give your students gifts. How fun to get to see some of them too! Great work on the running front!
Thanks, Marcia!
So glad you’re getting some down time!
I’m sure your students really appreciated your gifts π
I hope so! π
I love that you delivered all those gifts. The kids must have been over the moon. I am very curious to see how it goes with school after the break. Our governor is pretty opposed to shutting things down, but I hope people made good decisions about their holiday activities.
A few parents sent me a message thanking me for their gift. I have no idea what to expect when students are back in the building. But for sure I will let you know!
How nice that you were able to deliver gifts to your students. I can only imagine how excited they were to see you in person!
Enjoy the rest of your time off during winter break!
It was cheaper then mailing them their gift. But next year if we are still virtual, I am sending a gift card. π
