Happy Sunday!Β  Happy Mother’s Day to you, your mom, aunt, grandma, sister, etc.Β  Honestly, I think Mother’s Day should be every single day.Β  Moms are truly amazing!

This week was very similar to last week.Β  I had some great runs which left me feeling more confident.Β  Today was when my body didn’t want to cooperate and I ran half of my 3 mile run.Β  It was windy and chilly.Β  I know it is my choice to run but I just didn’t want to deal with it today.Β Β

On Tuesday I ran 4 miles and then 4-45 second surges.Β  The last time I did this workout was April 20th.Β  Some of the paces for the splits were faster this week but also slower than the previous run two weeks ago.Β  That is OK.Β

On Thursday I did again 5-1/3 mile intervals with the same distance in recovery.Β  I remember waking up exhausted in the morning and didn’t get up till 6:30am.Β  I knew I wouldn’t have enough time for my run so I decided to run after work.Β  I don’t remember why I procrastinated so long but I ended up doing my run at almost 7pm.Β  Maybe that contributed to my “slower” pace than the last time I did this workout (April 22nd)?Β Β

Saturday was 6 miles again with one 90 interval/90 recovery after each mile but stopping at 6 miles.Β  Some splits were faster and some were slower than the previous run two weeks ago.Β  I am still pleased with how I did.Β  I’ve mentioned that I like this workout and enjoy running 6-7 miles on Saturday.

This week was Teacher Appreciation Week.Β  I got some great gifts from our administrators.Β  Last year I received a front lawn sign and I still have it!Β  I received a message from 3 students and one of them gave me a balloon, candy, and a plant.Β  But can I tell you that I didn’t get one thank you note from any parent?Β  Nada, zilch, nothing.Β  It must be because they are all fed up with me from removing their child from class and/or letting them know their child hasn’t been turning in their assignments.Β  πŸ˜‰ 😜 Β

The District also sent a tweet acknowledging every single teacher.Β

The weather has been up and down.Β  Last weekend was warm and sunny.Β  The rest of the week was cold (for May) and cloudy.Β  Yesterday it did warm up a little but but then got cold again.Β  Not sure what happened last night but I saw this today while on my run.Β  The tree was in the middle of the street.

Linking up withΒ KimΒ andΒ DeborahΒ for the Weekly Run Down.

24 Comments on Weekly Run Down: Happy Mother’s Day and Appreciation Week

  1. Happy teacher appreciation week! Glad you got some nice things, but I’m sorry that the parents didn’t show their appreciation. Great job with your runs this week!

  2. I didn’t realize you taught in Cicero! I thought you were in CPS. Funny how Teacher Appreciation week and Nurses Week are the same week, lol. And then Mother’s Day.

Nice week of miles, Zenaida! I don’t blame you for giving up this morning. It was cold!

  3. Happy Mother’s Day and Teacher Appreciation Week! I’m surprised you didn’t get more from your students and parents. I remember when my kids were in elementary school, this week was always a big deal. Well… just one more reminder of what a crappy year it’s been.
Nice job as always on the run streak! And you got some workouts in. Sounds like it was a good week overall.

  4. Happy teacher appreciation week! I bet it felt great to be recognized. Looks like it was another perfect training week for you nice job

  5. I love that you got gifts from some of your students for Teachers Appreciation Week. That’s really disappointing that none of the parents sent you a thank you πŸ™

The weather has been really crazy here too – I hope no one was hurt by the fallen tree!

  6. Everyone has some tough runs, I had a rough long run this week too. It happens! It’s all part of the process, just keeping showing up and the hard work will pay off!

  7. Yikes on that tree! That’s pretty cool that the administration Tweeted for everyone. I’m sorry none of the parents did anything for you. I’ve made sure to remember my assistants for Administrative Professionals Day, but some partners assume whatever our firm does is enough β€” grr.

  8. You had some good mileage last week! We all have easy runs (that surprise us), and then there’s those tough runs that blindside us. YOU keep showing up, and your streak is still going strong, so well done πŸ˜‰ Happy Teacher Appreciation Week…not everyone could do your job, so thank you for all you do!

  9. I’m really sorry the parents didn’t acknowledge you. I’m sure it’s not about you, but more about what they’re dealing with.

The weather wasn’t great this week but can’t change it so glad I have the clothes to deal with just about any situation! πŸ˜‰

  10. Happy Teacher Appreciation week! Teachers are right up there with Moms, doing all of the awesome things that make our kids turn into better versions of themselves! I do admit that I didn’t even realize it had been appreciation week until I saw a sign at the school at the end of the week πŸ™ My bad!

  11. I know the kids appreciate you. Parents rarely do. Unless they are teachers.

    Kudus on your streak. Impressive.

  12. I’m glad you are still enjoying most of your runs! that’s good! we are all bound to have days where we don’t want to or it doesn’t go well. I’m glad you got some recognition for teacher appreciate week but it sucks that no parents said anything πŸ™ You are making an impact on kids and that’s what’s most important!!

Thank you for your comment!
