I am so happy that it’s Friday! I’m starting off the weekend with a little catch-up over the Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by Coco and Deborah. So grab a mug of your favorite beverage and let’s chat for a bit!
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I posted two TpT ClassFund links on Facebook and received over $150 in donations. Then TpT matched some of the donations (up to $50) so I ended up with over $200. I am grateful to everyone that donated. I have an Amazon wishlist that I will post as well. I know schools/districts received Covid money but I really doubt teachers will get any money to use towards classroom expenses. 😞
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I have my annual physical exam on the 30th and one of the things I will tell my doctor is that I think I am experiencing pre-menopause. I have hot flashes throughout the day, but more at night. It is awful and not fun at all. Why do women have to suffer so much? Yesterday I went to set up my classroom and the AC was not working. Sigh, it wasn’t that bad but there were time in which I found myself sweating a lot and had to go out in the hallway to cool down a bit.
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that it feels really good to be running for fun. Don’t get me wrong, I like working with my coach and have enjoyed my workouts, but lately it had felt like I had to run versus wanting to run. Add in the stress of everything going on and it isn’t a good combination.
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that the months are going by too fast. How is it August already? Only 4 months till the year 2021 is over. Unfortunately, what I remember most from these past couple of months is how awful school was for me. I know there were many positive moments but why is it that we focus more on the negative than the positive?
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I haven’t watched much of the Olympics. As much as I wanted to keep up with swimming and track and field, NBC hasn’t been doing a good job of showing everything. I don’t have cable and NBC is the only way I can watch it. I did see the 1500m swimming and that was unbelievable! I also saw a few of the 100, 200 and 400m events – those women are FAST!!

I didn’t catch much of the Olympics last week, but made up for it this week…and all that couch time did my back no favors. But it was all worth it 😉 The track events have been exciting!!
I missed both marathons! 🙁
Yay on receiving those donations! I never understood why teachers have to supply their classrooms out of their own pockets. Makes no sense.
Ugh on the hot flashes. I’m past menopause, but still get hot flashes once in a while. I remember having a few bad ones at the peri- stage, but they never got so bad that I sought treatment.
There are some things that I have bought because I wanted them, but now I am at a point that I need to limit what I buy. It will be interesting to see what funding we get from the school/district. I was going to buy Estroven but decided to wait till I saw my doctor and get her advice.
I hope you school year ahead brings more positive memories for you. It is up to you whether you focus on the good or the not so good. Running for fun is always nice and less stressful
Thanks, Deborah. You are right. I am trying to be positive and let go of the things I cannot control. Currently I have 21 students in my roster but how exactly will I fit them and still social distance? That is for the District to figure it out. It isn’t that I do not care but there isn’t anything I can do about it.
Yes! August arrived fast and before we know it, we will be halfway there. The Olympics have been keeping me sane, and although I have cable, I have actually used the NBC Sports app because they have better coverage. But I do have to say that there is something lacking, in addition to spectators, and I can’t quite put my finger on it.
It is weird seeing no spectators! I can imagine how difficult it is for the participants too.
NBC’s coverage of the Olympics has been terrible! It took me a bit to figure out that the USA cable channel was covering more of the swimming and track events.
I feel your pain on the hot flashes – you think someone would have come up with a “cure” by now!
I hope all goes well for you with the school year – keeping my fingers crossed for a little less drama!
Ah yes, I did hear about USA Network for the Olympics. No luck here with no cable.
Yes, I feel like I’ve missed a lot of the Olympics in spite of being glued to the TV. I actually have Peacock and I’m hoping to see replays of some of the races I’ve missed.
I’m past menopause (yay!) and never actually had hot flashes, but my tolerance for heat went down in general. Put me in a room with no AC and I’ll be very, very angry.
I hope things go well once school actually starts. This is a stressful time for teaches, I know. Good luck!!!
There are so many events and not enough time. Plus the time difference does not help. You are lucky you didn’t have hot flashes. I didn’t realize how bad they were till now.
100% agree with you about the Olympic coverage. It is so hard to watch!
I started perimenopause at age 43 and didn’t cross over to the dark side until 56. It is definitely a process!
Oh gosh, that is a long time! I am only a few months in and I am over it.
That’s great news about the school donations! I will never understand why more funds don’t go into schools so that teachers don’t need to spend their own money on supplies for students. It makes me so mad!
I don’t understand it either but that is how it is. I told my coworker that I don’t want to spend so much money this year. It isn’t because I can’t, but it is because I shouldn’t.
Not only are the women fast, they make it look so easy! Until the collapse on the track afterwards.
More & more things happen as we age. As to focusing on the negative, we don’t have to. Just sayin’. Whatever you focus on grows.
I was in awe of the women running and it looked so smoothly! I definitely do not run like that. 🙂
It’s hard to figure out what’s on when. I’ve had to watch on YouTube after the fact or on the news.
Congrats on the donations.
Yes. Can’t believe it’s august already.
Running for fun is the best feeling. I’ve thrown away plans years ago.
I downloaded the app for the schedule but then realized that it didn’t help since I could not watch it live.
I hope your doctor can give you some advice/therapies to help with the hot flashes you’ve been having!
I’m also having a really hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that we’re already a week into August–where did all the time go?!
I hope so too because I am struggling. I was going to buy some over the counter pills but decided to wait.
This year is flying by! I haven’t watched much of the Olympics, but it’s because of time restraints. I did get to see both marathons yesterday (the women’s was replayed from the day before).
That is awesome that you saw it! Did you watch it on YouTube or cable?
I totally agree that this year has flown by. Even though August just started it already feels like we’ll be in the fall before you know it!
And I’m sorry about those flashes, we women really do go through a lot!
And now we are almost halfway though August! Hopefully these symptoms do not last much longer. 😬
