It’s the last Friday of the month which means Marcia has opened the Runfessional! It’s also time for another edition of Fit Five Friday hosted by Darlene, Renée, Jenn, Michelle, and me! Let’s get started, shall we?!
I runfess…
That while I am excited to be back in school, I am very exhausted at the end of the day. Exhausted that I drag myself out of bed in the morning to run. It was total chaos on Wednesday and a little part of me wished we were still in remote learning. I have a small class compared to last year but there is still so much to do. Two girls asked me to tie their shoes. I didn’t and told them they had to learn. I did feel guilty and I know I shouldn’t.
I runfess…
I had no idea what the milk crate challenge was about. I kept seeing it on Facebook but no information about it. This morning I read about it. Why would people do something like that? It reminds me of the Tide pod challenge. Simply ridiculous!
I runfess…
My primary doctor whom I’ve seen for over 10 years is leaving the physician’s group in November. I have been assigned new doctors in the same location. I knew this day would come but I was in shock when I received the news. I have an appointment on Monday for my yearly physical. I will ask her where she is going so hopefully she can continue being my doctor. I honestly do not want to start over.
I runfess…
I am jealous of everyone doing Hood to Coast. But I can never do it because it is right around the time that school starts. I remember there was a time when I couldn’t do either Ragnar Relay Chicago because it was also during the time when school was in session. I did do it in 2012 because I was out of school already.
I runfess…
Lately I’ve been eating so much. Stress makes me eat more. Each day when I come home I rest for a bit and then eat whatever I can get my hands on. Some of my pants still fit but my running shorts are a bit tight. I know eventually it won’t be as stressful but I still need to do a better job with my meals.

I haven’t been eating more but my waistline has gotten thicker! I guess not running and heavy lifting has taken a toll on my metabolism. UGH
I feel you on the exhaustion–we’ve been swamped with back to school physicals and at this time of year, we get the unreasonable parents. Glad I had the past 10 days off. Hang in there!
I am planning to start training and will add cross training and strength training too. Hopefully that will help! I feel blah too.
Hopefully you’ll be able to settle into a routine soon. I’ve been doing some cycling after work (instead of the usual walks), and that’s been a nice post-workday wind-down.
There were a few times when I would get on my Peloton in the evening and it felt good doing that. I need to get back to that routine.
Ugh on your doctor leaving. That happened to me, and mine went into a totally different field, so following her wasn’t an option. I hope it works out.
I was traumatized by a teacher not helping me tie my shoes! I still remember the frustration of those tangled laces. I think I eventually got a friend to help me ….
I guess I better start tying those laces. My reason was that the students were at home for over a year and they should have learned, right? But now I realized it isn’t their fault the parents didn’t teach them.
Now that your streak is over you can find a new routine.
Hopefully this school year is less stressful.
More time to get on the Peloton and do more classes!
I hope things settle down for you soon and that it is a smooth school year.
My doc recently switched practices too – I was able to follow her. I hope you are able to do the same. It can be a hassle to have to start over with someone new.
Part of me wants to stay with the same hospital group since all of my records are there and any doctor can assess them.
Here’s hoping your work day gets less stressful quickly. Also, sending good wishes that you can follow your doctor to her new location.
Thanks!
I still don’t know what the milk crate challenge is & don’t think I’ve even heard of it . . .
I truly don’t think,I’d have the patience to be a teacher. I know the school year start is always chaotic but this year must be really tough after not being in the classroom last year (mostly). Good luck!
I went online to find out about it.
My pants have been a little tight too. I haven’t been eating more, but I have felt bloated. Boo.
I hope this year goes well for you and for your students. A is doing well so far, and I am thrilled with with that but it’s still nervewracking.
Thank you!
Hope things settle down for you at school. I’m sure the beginning of a new school year is super stressful. I agree HTC comes at a super inconvenient time. It is EPIC though. I’m so glad I did it!
It is stressful but also brings great rewards! At least the students are in the classroom and not online.
