Happy New Year! I am so happy that it’s Friday! I stayed at home for two days due to remote learning. I’d forgotten how exhausting it is. How did it go? Keep on reading and you’ll find out. I’m starting off the weekend with a little catch-up over the Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by Coco and Deborah. So grab a mug of your favorite beverage and let’s chat for a bit!
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I thought that January felt like a long month. I cannot exactly put my finger as to why but it just did. I went back to work on the 10th so that was almost halfway through the month. Could it be that it had 31 days but actually felt like a couple hundred? Who knows but glad it is February. I will be even more glad when the snow melts and we have some nice Spring weather.
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I still haven’t been running. We got more snow on yesterday prompting us to have 2 remote learning days. It is also cold. No thank you. But you bet I’m still on the bike!
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I was EXHAUSTED on Wednesday after my first day of remote learning. I took a nap after my building meeting. It went much better on Thursday and we had a lot of fun. It was 2:43 and I told the kids they could leave or stay. One said that school doesn’t end till 3pm. He then reminded me that that is what I wrote in the schedule (I jokingly told him that I was going to change it). So we stayed a bit longer. At 2:59 I told them it was time to go. Another student said not yet because it wasn’t 3 yet. 💖 💖
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that even though preparing for two days of remote learning took a lot of time, a little part of me is happy about it. Why? It was wonderful to teach and talk without a mask. I also got to see my students without their mask. I saw all of their cute faces and listened to them talk and laugh. << Hearing children laugh is the best!
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that lately I’ve been having dreams about water. I dream about driving my car and ending up in water but having walking on the water. I’ve also dreamed of leaky pipes with water all over the house. Thanks to the Internet there are different interpretations which left me even more confused. Or maybe it simply meant that I had to use the bathroom?

Ha ha… if I dream about water, it definitely means I need to use the bathroom!
Yes, my BIL is a teacher in the Chicago area and they were happy he had remote learning for two days so he didn’t have the snowy commute! But he’s a high school art teacher, so he gave the kids a project and told them to check back in if they needed anything. I would say remote learning is a little easier at the high school level!
Good to know he also had remote learning. CPS did not.
Sorry the remote learning was so exhausting, but I’ll bet it felt great to not have to wear a mask!
The kids obviously must really enjoy if they wouldn’t leave early!
I almost never remember my dreams.
It did feel great not to wear a mask!
I must have missed something I thought you were training for a 50K? Did you get injured?
I stopped training because of the weather. I didn’t want to deal with the cold weather and snow.
Dreams are so strange!
The snow has been a bit brutal! I was more turned off by the wind on Weds and Thurs and did part of my runs on the treadmill both days.
I do not blame you for running on the treadmill. I am sure the wind was stronger along the lakefront. Hopefully the worst is over.
Glad the remote learning had some positives! I bet its hard with kids and masks…kudos to you for sticking with it!
The winter has not been kind for running !Glad you have that bike!
But you are out there still running. Way to go! I was really hoping it would be a mild one because I knew I had to train. Well, it is better now so hopefully soon I will be out there running again.
I also thought that January felt like a super long month. For me it was a mix of work and the weather. The days seemed to drag on and on.
Your area has been hit with so much snow lately. I hope that February is a less snowy month.
Me too! It was 40s today and it felt wonderful. We even went outside for recess.
Sorry you had such a rough month, but glad you’ve been able to be on the bike
Thanks, Cari. February will go by quick and then it will be flowers and sunshine. 🙂
Remote and face to face are so different. I don’t look forward to standing for 8 hours when I go back to the classroom – I think April?
I have half marathons to train for which makes me HAVE to run but this weather really sucks!!
I applaud you for continuing to run outside. I just couldn’t deal with it. But I am glad I am still being active.
You are very active. I have no choice since I signed up for winter races.
Awh, that’s a huge compliment that your students didn’t want the day to end early 😉 I finally buckled this week, and have run twice on the treadmill. UGH. We didn’t get your snow, but it’s been ridiculously cold and windy here. That said, I still did my post-run outdoor selfies, LOL. You gotta have a sense of humor to get through the Iowa winters…
Humor and attitude! I love that you have that and make me smile. It also makes me smile when my students say stuff like that to me. I must be doing something right.
I appreciate hearing about the ups and downs of teaching from your perspective. I’m glad it was only 2 days of virtual learning. We’ve had a lot of icy weather that chased me to my tread.
Thank you for listening. Sometimes I even get tired of talking about it. Haha!
Wow, you have some dedicated students making sure they get their time in…lol.
We are still doing in person school and just “zooming” with those that are quarantined!
Haha, these kids want attention. But 6 hours with them is too long on remote days. I hope we never had to do in person and virtual at the same time. One is hard enough.
Kids are the best. There’s always that one kid that ruins it for everyone else LOL
I dream about driving in or very near water all the time. I have no idea what it means.
My students wear me out but they’re still special. I look forward to their smile and laughter.
I so agree that January felt so long!
I bet it was nice to see and hear your kids without the masks even if you had to be remote.
The weather has not been kind for running. Thank goodness for the bike. Any good classes you’d recommend?
Right now I am taking all of Camila Ramon’s classes. I like them all except the hip hop ones. Not a fan but I do them anyway. Once I am done then I will move on to those that are 80s and 90s pop fun runs. Those are always fun!
January took forever!
Aww. I’m sorry you had to go remote but it sounds like there were some benefits, too. It must be great to see your students <3
I know I complained when we had to go to work in the snow. Remember? One day of remote learning was enough. I was ready to go back the following day but then we found out it was another remote day. Thank goodness it was 2 days. It just felt so long and we didn’t get time to plan for the days either. Oh well.
