Wow, hard to believe it is already June! The month sure does go by fast when you are having fun. I’m starting off the weekend with a little catch-up over the Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by Coco and Deborah. So grab a mug of your favorite beverage and let’s chat for a bit!
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I am emotionally and mentally exhausted. With the last few days of school, packing up my classroom, and my mother being home this week I am very tired. Taking care of an elderly woman is tiring. My sister is home with her during the day until I come home. Who would have thought personalities change as we get older?
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that there is a house that I want to see but am having trouble doing so. I’ve been eyeing it for a few weeks and finally contacted my agent about it. I was surprised no one had bought it yet since houses are selling like hot cakes. Last week he told me that the owners were going on vacation and to reach out to him on Tuesday. I did. I told him I could see it Wednesday or Thursday. No luck. I am wondering if the owners really want to sell their house. Why are they making it so difficult? I believe things happen for a reason so maybe this is a way of saying that this house is no bueno.
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that on Wednesday I received my new teaching assignment for the 2022-2023 school year. There are 4 second grade teachers (2 GE and 2 DL) and we get along and work very well together. We were split up. One GE and one DL teacher are going to one school and the other 2 to a different school. I knew it could happen but still cannot believe it. It is making me very sad but am trying to stay positive. I am glad that at least I will be working with someone I’ve worked with for years.
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that a friend of mine reached out to me because she had an extra ticket to see “Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations” on Saturday. I love musicals. I haven’t seen her in years and am looking forward to it. I feel like a kid with a new toy. I realized it’s been a long time since I’ve been out with friends. There are 4 of us going and are meeting first for lunch and then go see the musical. I hope I stay awake. I usually take a nap after lunch.
If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I didn’t realize I had so much school stuff. The last time I packed was about 4-5 years ago. I was moved to my current room 2 years ago but administration packed it all up for me. When I am done I think I will have about 80 boxes, bags, and containers that will need to be sent to my new school. That number doesn’t even include some items I will store in my cousin’s garage. Does that make me a hoarder?

I feel you on the splitting up of your work group. Our nurse transferred to a different practice and i miss her terribly. The change of personnel has really altered the chemistry in our practice. The new nurse is really something else. ugh.
I hope you enjoy your summer!
Sorry to hear about the nurse. I know change is good but sometimes it isn’t always for the best!
Oh, your weekend plans sound so fun. LOL on naptime. When we used to go to the movies I always preferred an early show for similar reasons. Even midday, put me in a comfy seat in a dark room and it’s hard to keep my eyes open!
I used to sometimes fall asleep at the movies too. Lean back and put my feet up – how can I not fall asleep?
Sounds like packing up a classroom is very similar to packing up a house. We have tons of belongings that we keep procrastinating on sorting…maybe this summer? So much stuff that we need to “move” elsewhere (like a charity donation, LOL). I hope your transition to your new setting goes ell!
My classroom is just ONE room. A house has way more – the bigger the house, the more stuff one can accumulate.
So you’re switching to a different school? That sounds stressful. Yes, whenever you move it’s astonishing how much stuff there is. I’m glad the school year is over and I hope you get a break before summer school! And I hope you don’t need to take a nap in the middle of the musical, ha ha. Sounds like a fun day!
I had no choice. Now that everything is packed up and I am done, I am looking forward to my new school. The musical was great but here were times in which I was closing my eyes. It could have been the two martinis I had during lunch. 😀 😀
So much going in your life currently! I really hope that you are able to decompress this summer after another long school year.
And I thought was life was boring! Haha!!!
UGH on moving to a new school. Hope you will have help.
I love Broadway musicals – have fun!
As you said, if the house was meant to happen, it will. GL.
All done with the packing. Whew! Now I am excited and looking forward to my new school.
Good luck. Change is sometimes a good thing!
I’m sorry about your teaching group being split up. I would imagine packing up a classroom is quite an undertaking!
Enjoy the time out with your friends!
It was exhausting and I hope I don’t have to pack up and move again till it is time to go back to my building. It could be 3-5 years.
Wow! 80 boxes of school stuff! That IS a lot. No wonder you do such fun stuff with your kids.
You know I get the whole taking care of the elderly thing. It’s also very warm in my mom’s apartment so that makes overnights during the Summer not so pleasant. Well, they took care of us, right?
Have fun at the lunch & show!
Overall it was about 100 boxes, containers, etc., stuff for the new school. Can you imagine unpacking all of that?
Oh yes I can, I think we had twice that many boxes when we moved (although in fairness, we are 2 people!).
I know the end of school is always a lot for you. The added pressure to take care your mom probably doesn’t help things. plus getting split up from your coworkers is also not nice. But I’m glad there are some positive things – hanging out with friends and seeing a show will give you loads of energy I’m sure.
Oh and the right house will come along. The market is nuts everywhere is what I’m understanding from friends all over!
Lots of things happening. It was so fun to have lunch and see the musical. Then on Tuesday I went out with coworkers and had a great time too!
I just want you to know that you are amazing. With your teaching and your caretaking, you are truly making the difference. Thank you.
And I do hope the house works out. This market is insane.
Thank you, friend!
It must be both tough and sad to have to split up from two of your fellow teachers for the coming school year.
If that house is meant to be, I hope you’ll be able to see it soon. If not, I hope the perfect one comes along soon!
I know we’ll still keep in touch but it won’t be the same. We’ll make the best of it!
I’m so sorry to hear that they split you up! :[ That really sucks — I’m glad you’ll still be with one of them though.
I hope you have fun at the musical! I haven’t seen one in the longest time but would love to again.
Sending you all my best wishes on the house situation too — it’s such a tough market right now! :[
The musical was so much fun! I am glad I went.
