Hello October and welcome to another edition of Tuesday Topics! Today we are discussing what you love about living in your town/city/state.
I have lived in Chicago for over 40 years. I also lived in Berwyn for about 1-2 years and in DeKalb when I was in college.
Chicago is a great city with plenty of things to do. There are many things to love about it, but I am listing only a couple of them.
🌃 The Lakefront Trail – The best place to go for a walk or go on a bike ride. You’ll also find many people running as they train for a race or running for fun. I have spent many, many hours along the 18-mile trail.
🌃 ‘El’ train – The best way to get downtown and many surrounding areas, as well as O’Hare and Midway Airport. We have the Red, Blue, Brown, Green, Orange, Purple, Pink, and Yellow train lines. I used to ride on the train every day when I worked downtown and I loved it!
🌃 Chicago-style Pizza – What more is there to say about it? It is delicious, take my word for it. Have I mentioned that I love pizza?
🌃 Diverse neighborhoods – While running the Chicago Marathon, you run through 29 different neighborhoods. Of course, there are more than that in the city – you can find a Polish, Mexican, El Salvadorian, Korean, German, Greek, Muslim, or Jewish areas as you take a walk or go on a drive.
🌃 My family’s hometown – 99% of my family lives in Chicago or in a surrounding area. I love that we live close together to see each other as much as we can.
The topic for next week: Let’s go down memory lane and tell us about the house/street you grew up in. Feel free to write about this or any running-related topic. We hope you’ll link up with us!
The Chicago marathon is this Sunday, right? Will you be cheering the runners?
I would love to do that marathon one day!
I did go spectate! I hope one day you get to run the Chicago Marathon. It is a great race!
And as Catrina mentioned, the Chicago Marathon! It’s such a big event. I also love the Chicago skyline–it never gets old!
I agree!
There’s a huge surplus fabric store in Chicago that I really love – Textile Discount Outlet. There are amazing deals there. Unfortunately, the hours it’s open are super limited, so I don’t get to go there very often, but I do try to get there whenever I can!
Chicago is full of surprises and places I have never heard about.
I was in Chicago years ago for a conference. I need to visit again
Yes, do visit!
I grew up right near Chicago (Highland Park.) It really is an amazing city- you forgot to mention the Cubs! I don’t miss the winters though.
Go White Sox! 🙂 I do not blame you about not missing the Winters.
The lakefront trail is fab for running. Now that my daughter lives there, I do love to visit and explore. Not sure I agree about the pizza-hard to be NYC on that one
Hopefully on one of those visits I can meet up with you!
You know that my love for Chicago runs deep! If I could pick any city to live in, Chicago would be my #1 pick 🙂
You should come for a visit!
