We’ve got FIVE incredible co-hosts My First 5K and More, Running With Attitude, Run Laugh Eat Pie, Runs with Pugs, and me for another Fit Five Friday link-up! This week’s topic is “5 things I want to accomplish this year.” Feel free to write about this or any fitness topic you’d like.
There are many things I want to accomplish this year. Who doesn’t? But for this post, I will narrow it to 5. It was hard but these are the ones that stand out.
⭐ Run/walk 2,024 miles – I didn’t making a running goal this year because the past 2 years I didn’t meet my goal. Someone posted on Instagram how she ran and walked 2,023 miles last year and that sparked my interest. I signed up. What I like about this goal is that I can include both running and walking. No way do I want to run 2,024 miles.
⭐ Move – I know I’ve been saying it for YEARS and YEARS (same song), but I am hoping 2024 is THE year. However, I do admit that the thought of owning a home does scare me because of the big responsibilities that come with it. I wonder if in a way that has been holding me back from purchasing a home.
⭐ Listen – I mean, really listen. I have noticed that sometimes while listening to someone say something to me, I am already thinking of my response. Sometimes I don’t let that person finish what they’re saying because I interrupt them with my response. I know, very rude, and I need to stop doing that.
⭐ Eat my lunch in the teacher’s lounge – I eat lunch in my classroom at 12pm. By that time I want to be alone. I know that I need to get out of my classroom and talk to other adults. I eat and do some work and I shouldn’t have to do that.
⭐ Learn to eat with chopsticks – Haha, you are probably laughing. I don’t know why I find it “cool” to eat with chopsticks. I don’t plan to eat everything with them, but at least when I eat Asian food. I am one that asks for a fork when I go to an Asian restaurant. I bought a set at Ross and my nephew told me to practice with popcorn.
The topic for next week – 5 things to never do in the gym. Feel free to write about this or any fitness topic you’d like. We hope you’ll link up with us!
LOL, I am a klutz with chopsticks! I had to muddle through at a client lunch — couldn’t be the ONLY person to ask for a fork. 😉
2024 miles is a big goal! I’d have to add my leisurely walks with Scooby to even get to 1000 miles.
My son was lucky his first few years of home ownership, but now he’s facing a leaky roof, breaking dishwasher, etc. But, at least his building equity.
I am slowly working on the chopsticks. I’ve been eating noodles for lunch in the teacher’s lounge and so far it is going well. At least I think so. Haha. I haven’t been running or walking because of the weather. I have to make up for it once it gets warmer.
That’s a great idea to add walking to running. I never track my walks… perhaps I should.
Same with books… I LOVE to read.
Good luck. I hope you can accomplish most or all of your goals this year.
I began tracking my walks last year but they were listed as other or something like that. My new Garmin has the walk feature. I am sure with all of your running and walking you will have a lot of miles.
Hopefully. I will most likely only track my runs since I don’t wear my Garmin.
I tracked walking with my dog last year (basically to get a good baseline for her activity level) and we walked almost 900 miles just the two of us! I’m sure if I added up my runs and walks I did without her, I was close to 1500. 2024 is an interesting goal! It’s ambitious because that’s more than five miles a day!
It is a lot of miles! I needed a challenge to get me moving more. 🙂
These are excellent goals 🙂
Thanks!
Oh my goodness! Good luck with your chopsticks!
I do hope this is your year for your own home. Home ownership is a lot (look at us, needing to replace all our windows soon), but it can be so great!
And get yourself to that teacher’s lounge! Stat!
I have been eating in the lounge. It feels good to not be working and to also be talking to other teachers.
I LOVE all of these! The mileage goal is great and I know how much you’ve been wanting to move. I often think about changing my lunch routine as well but right now I don’t like my colleagues at all… but maybe there is someone I could just join occasionally and be sociable with. Listening is a good one – a lot of people don’t do this, it’s a bad habit we’ve gotten into just to keep contributing to the conversation. And yeah chopsticks! I do us them, but not very good with them. Little fun goals are also nice to have!
Let’s see how I do this year. Should be an interesting one.
I was so tempted to sign up for the 2,024 miles for 2024 challenge but thought I might be tempting fate as I work to get back from injury. Great idea to do it as a run/walk combo – good luck!!
Thanks. I knew I couldn’t do it by only walking so hopefully the walking will be a big part of it. I am tempted to walk to work. It is about 6 miles.
