Happy Tuesday!  Thank you for joining me and Jenn for another edition of Tuesday Topics.  Remember to link up with us!  Visit at least two of the other linked posts – the more the merrier!  Don’t forget to come back for later linkers!

Today is New Year’s Eve!  I do not have any exciting plans.  Actually, I don’t even want to go anymore.  I want to stay home.  I am OK with it.  I will be home with my two cuties.

I’ve had my share of exciting plans for New Year’s Eve.  I’ve been at a club dancing the night away, in Mexico, and celebrating with family.

This is our last Tuesday Topics of 2024.  A HUGE thank you for joining me and Jenn every Tuesday to talk about running and other things not related to running.

Tuesday Topics: My goals for 2025

Happy Tuesday!  Thank you for joining me and Jenn for another edition of Tuesday Topics.  Remember to link up with us!  Visit at least two of the other linked posts – the more the merrier!  Don’t forget to come back for later linkers!

I can’t believe 2024 is almost over.  It is time to start thinking about next year.  Last year I wrote my goals for 2023 I will update you on how I did and then talk about my goals for next year.

❇️ Read 24 books.  I was on the right track and then there wasn’t enough hours in the day to read.  I have read 18 books.  I am almost done with “Apples Never Fall” and hopefully I will finish it by December 31st.

❇️ PR in a race distance.  Sadly I ran 2 races this year and none were close to a PR.

❇️ Run a half marathon in a different state.  See above about a PR.  Both of my races were local.

❇️ Don’t procrastinate (too much).  I am pleased to say that I did well here.  It wasn’t easy because sometimes I tend to wait and hold off to do something.

❇️ Switch retirement plan and add more money to it each month.  I didn’t do this.  Hopefully next year I will do this.

2025 Goals:

➡️ Run/walk 2,015 miles.

➡️ Run at least 5 races.

➡️ PR in a race distance.

➡️ Read 24 books.

➡️ Take an international trip.

Tuesday Topics: The year 2024 in photos

Happy Tuesday!  Thank you for joining me and Jenn for another edition of Tuesday Topics.  Remember to link up with us!  Visit at least two of the other linked posts – the more the merrier!  Don’t forget to come back for later linkers!

This is one of my favorite posts to write.  I wrote one in 20202021, 2022, and 2023I had fun reading those posts again and thinking about how much has changed since 2020.

Let’s recap this year.

January:

⇒ Chose my word of the year:  Self-Care.  Next year I will let you know how I did.

February:

⇒ Was featured on the District website.  The photo is from a school dance.  The student I was dancing with was in my classroom my first year at Wilson.  She was in 3rd class when the photo was taken.

March:

⇒ Went to San Antonio for my aunt’s 90th birthday party.

⇒ I ran the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8k.

April:

⇒ “Saw” the solar eclipse.  Everyone in my school was outside for this experience.  Wow!  This is what I saw. 🤣🤣

May:

⇒ I saw “Mamma Mia” and loved it!

⇒ Finished the 2023-2024 school year!

June:

⇒ Began teaching Summer School!

July:

⇒ Ran the Elmhurst 4 on the 4th race.

⇒ Went to Minnesota for a few days.  It was nice to get away.  However, I had to leave my cats at the PetsHotel in Petsmart and it was one of the most difficult things to do.

August:

⇒ “Discovered” Olipop.  So good!

⇒ Began the 2024-2025 school year.

⇒ Signed up again to run/walk 2025 miles in 2025.  !Si se puede!

September:

⇒ Celebrated my mom’s 81st birthday.

October:

⇒ Spectated the Chicago Marathon.  It was a fun day!

November:

⇒ Celebrated my birthday!

December:

⇒ I went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

⇒ Winter Break!

Tuesday Topics: November 2024 Review

This week’s Tuesday Topic is a FREE topic.  Feel free to post any running-related blog post.  Remember to link up with Jenn and Zenaida!  Visit at least two of the other linked posts – the more the merrier!  Remember to come back for later linkers!

Let me tell you how November went for me:

Mileage:  In November I ran 29.29 and walked 1.55 miles.  I was using one of Hal Higdon’s training plans but then life happens and I stopped running.  Hopefully, I can start again.

Run the Year 2024:  I signed up to run and walk 2,024 miles this year.  So far I have completed 506 miles (per the RTE Tracker).  I know I will not reach this goal.  I am curious to see how many I actually do.

Current Book:  I finally finished reading “These Silent Woods”.  Now I am reading “Apples Never Fall”.  So far I am liking it.  I have finished reading 18 books.  My goal is to read 24 books this year and I am behind schedule.  I plan to catch up during Winter Break.

Injuries:  Nothing new.  Some days I have less plantar fasciitis pain than other days.  I am still going to the chiropractor and getting a massage.

Races:  None.

Health:  The hot flashes are not as bad.  They’re worse in the Summer.

School:  It is the same song here.  I have OK days, bad days, and awful days.

What I am looking forward to next month:  Winter Break!  I will be off for 2 weeks and I am excited about it.

Fit Five Friday: A non-traditional Thanksgiving menu

We’ve got FIVE incredible co-hosts My First 5K and MoreRunning With AttitudeRun Laugh Eat PieRuns with Pugs, and me for another Fit Five Friday link-up!

I love Thanksgiving.  My favorite thing about it is being with family.  The food, not so much.  I am not a big fan of turkey.  I’ll eat it but it isn’t my favorite.  I do like the corn, corn bread, and mashed potatoes.  That’s it.

So, what have I eaten on Thanksgiving?

• Tamales.  Those are popular during Christmas.  There are a variety of them but I prefer the green ones with chicken.  My cousin is planning to make them for Thanksgiving.

• Pollo enchilado.  As I mentioned above, I am not a big fan of turkey.  I prefer chicken.  Add chile and it is ever better!  It does look like a turkey, right?

• Pozole.  There is a place close to my house that makes it really good too in all 3 colors – white, red, and green – and they’re all delicious.

• Mole.  It doesn’t look tasty but it is delicious.  Mole is my mother’s favorite meal.  She is always telling me that we should make mole.  A few years ago I learned to make it thanks to my mother.

• Chinese food, hamburgers, hot dog, etc.  No pictures but you get the idea.

So that is my Thanksgiving menu.  Yes, eating food is part of Thanksgiving, but to me it is more important being together with family.  I don’t need the turkey, gravy, corn bread, and everything else that goes with a Thanksgiving dinner.
