Happy Tuesday! Hopefully you’re staying warm wherever you are. We had a few “nice” days but now it is going to be C-O-L-D.
This week’s Tuesday Topic: Show us your year in bling! You can write about this topic or feel free to post any running related blog post. Remember to Link-up with Kim and Zenaida! Visit at least two of the other linked posts – the more the merrier! Remember to come back for later linkers!
This year I ran a total of 5 races compared to 6 in 2018 and 10 in 2017. However, I did run in 3 different states so I am happy with my 5 races. Even though I ran 5 races, I “only” got 4 medals. 🙂
Here are my races and medals:
⇒ Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle – This is one of my favorite races and I LOVE it! It was my first race of the year and it is always so much fun. I saw quite a few friends, including Marcia and Wendy.
⇒ Delaware Marathon Running Festival – This race was hilly! Part of the course was pretty too while running in Brandywine Park. The best part was seeing Kim!!
⇒ Missoula Half Marathon – I’ve heard so many great things about this race. It is well organized but expensive to get there. Hotels are expensive too. The course is nice and mostly downhill.
⇒ Elmhurst 4 on the 4th – This is another one of my favorite races. It is cheap, easy to get it, and plenty of parking. Plus, it is the only 4 mile race I run. Sadly there is no medal but that is OK. Maybe one year?
⇒ Detroit Free Press/TCF Bank Half Marathon – This was my last race of the year. I was undertrained but I definitely enjoyed the race. I ran the International Half Marathon and about half of the course is in Canada. This is one race that you have to to. Everything about this race is simply perfect.
Which one of these races would you want to do?
That Shamrock Race looks fun! Great when you can meat bloggers in real life. I usually don’t keep my race bling, but from now on I think I will. It’s a great post idea.
Have a great week!
It is a great and fun race! I have so many medals and want to hang them but I don’t have the room. Part of me wants to give them away and another part of me wants to hang on to them.
The DE running festival has been on my radar a while. Everytime I see Shamrock I think of VA!
The DE race is a good race! Hilly but I do recommend it. It was very well organized and easy to get to (even if I had to fly into Philadelphia).
I definitely want to do Detroit someday! It’s almost always the same time as the IMT Des Moines Marathon weekend, though 🙁 I love that Shamrock medal 🙂
I remember you mentioning that. Maybe one year the dates will differ and you’ll get a chance to do both. I highly recommend Detroit.
I’ll have to look into that Detroit race. Sounds like fun. I’m assuming the weather is good considering it was your last race of the year.
We had good weather this year but I know it varies each year. I remember someone telling me that one year it was very cold.
I’m loving everyone’s medals this year! I ran the Shamrock Shuffle for the first time this year and I really felt I was undeserving of the amazing 40th anniversary medal since I’d never run it before!
Isn’t that one of the best races? I am looking forward to it next year.
The Shamrock Shuffle medal is awesome! We were also just talking about the Detroit Free Press event, and I’m glad to see the medal for that is pretty nice, as well. I am eyeing that for my Michigan race at some point in the future.
Great collection for the year.
Definitely do that race! I highly recommend it. Of course I recommend the International race instead of the U.S. race.
That Detroit Free Press race sounds so cool, especially that you get to cross into Canada! Congrats on a nice year!
Thanks, Wendy!
It’s fun to see everyone’s bling!
I am catching up on reading comments and replying so I am excited to see what everyone else posted.
I keep hearing such great things about the Detroit Free Press – I would love to run that one!
Yes, do it! I highly recommend it.
Absolutely I want to run Detroit someday. If the timing works out, I’m going to run Shamrock next year. We’ve gone to Chicago for spring break two years in a row now on that weekend and I’ve built up a serious case of race FOMO.
I hope you get to run it. The date for next year is March 22.
It was so great to see you earlier this year in Delaware!
I love the Detroit medal and can’t wait to do that race next year
I agree! I’ll have to see what other races you’ll be doing next year so maybe I can meet up with you again. Happy about Detroit! I have to see what other races/states I need to run in next year.
