Happy Tuesday! Thank you for joining me and Jenn for another edition of Tuesday Topics. Remember to link up with us! Visit at least two of the other linked posts – the more the merrier! Don’t forget to come back for later linkers!
Hello there! It’s been over a month since my last post. I want to tell you so many things but I am not sure where to start. Grab your favorite drink and let’s chat. I just finished drinking a bottle of beer and might have another one. Today was one of those days. Rough day.
• I finally moved! OMG! I didn’t realize I had so much stuff. I had boxes and boxes full of stuff. I even threw away a bunch of stuff too. I hired movers and I am glad I did. They moved everything for me. I was sick when this happened and almost canceled the move. I am glad I didn’t. I still haven’t finished unpacking. I am about 90% done.
• Next week is Spring Break. I will use the time to finish organizing my things. I also plan to rest and to take it easy.
• My cats are adjusting to the new space. I left my cats in the apartment when I left with the movers because they were hiding. I knew I had to go back for them. Mateo hid in the car and wouldn’t come out. Lola was fine but Mateo was being difficult. I managed to get him out of the car and into the house.
• Owning a house scares me. The bills are higher than living in an apartment. My first gas bill was a few hundred dollars and I wasn’t even living there! I closed on the house on January 17th and moved in at the beginning of March. I had the heat on (not too high) because it was still cold and I didn’t want the pipes to freeze. I received another gas bill and while it isn’t high like the first one, it is still high. I also have to pay a water bill. I received my first one and was shocked to see how it was.
What if something breaks (i.e. sump pump, water heater, etc)? Before when I had trouble in the apartment, my landlord would fix it. Now I don’t have that option. Now I need to figure it out.
• Owning a home is still a rewarding feeling. Now I can say “my house” and mean it. I can do whatever I want here. I can be as loud as I want to. I can decorate however I want. Even though it is a scary feeling (see note above), the good feeling outweighs the scary feeling.
The topic for next week – April Fools-share your favorite fitness pranks! Feel free to write about this or any running-related topic. We hope you’ll link up with us!
Congrats on moving into your new home! All of the great reasons for owning a home far outweigh the scary ones. Enjoy!
Thanks!
So glad to see a post from you again, Zenaida!
Sounds like you’ve had a whirlwind of a month – moving is no joke.
Good call on hiring movers; those boxes always seem to multiply when you start packing! Owning a home is definitely a big adjustment, but it’s great that you’re already finding the rewarding side of it.
Hope you get some well-deserved rest over Spring Break!
I have been looking for a home for YEARS, and now I have one, so I have to suck it up. Haha!
March 28th will be my 1-year anniversary in my house. Yes, home ownership (as a single gal) has its stress, but it’s also quite empowering. I’m thankful to know a lot of people (with a lot of “man” tools, LOL), so it’s been a smooth transition. I hope all goes well for you and your kitties in your new place 😉
One year…that is awesome! I need to meet more people to help me out in case of an emergency. One of my fears is my basement flooding. I will literally cry all day.
Awww! Home ownership is kind of crazy sometimes. I am so proud of you and know that you will do great, once you get it all figured out.
Glad the kitties are adjusting!
Thanks, my dear friend!
