Now, grab a mug of your favorite beverage, and let’s chat!

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you (and I know that you know) that I FINALLY bought a house!  I don’t know when I will stop saying that so be patient with me.  I haven’t moved in yet but slowly have been moving some things there.  On Saturday I received the living room furniture and kitchen table.  The plan is to move in by the end of the month.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that Menards is my new favorite store.  Move over Target.  I have been there twice and have walked out with over $100 in stuff.  All of it is for the home and I need it all.  I applied for their credit card and I can see myself going there even after I have moved in.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I received my corral for the Shamrock Shuffle next month.  I am in Corral D.  I know I have never been in A or B but cannot remember if I’ve been in C.  Am I ready?  Nope.  That is OK because I only want to finish and have fun.  I hope it isn’t too cold that day.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you I don’t know if I will be ready for the first two half marathons I signed up for this year.  For sure not the one in Myrtle Beach on March 1st.  The next one is April 5th in Albuquerque.  Or maybe I will be ready for the one in Albuquerque?  I haven’t been running but can start….soon.  What do you think?

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you in my excitement when I bought my house, I didn’t take into consideration the height of the basement ceiling.  It isn’t high but not too low either.  I don’t know how I will be able to run on a treadmill without hitting my head.  I guess that is a job for the contractor to figure out, right?  Speaking of treadmills, I know I want a Peloton one but the Tread+ is $6,000 while the basic is $3000.  I don’t have to get the Tread+, and have heard that it is worth it, but it is so expensive.  I may need to check and compare both of them before I purchase one.

Fit Five Friday: Five Favorite Running-Related Books

Happy Friday!  We’ve got FIVE incredible co-hosts My First 5K and MoreRunning With AttitudeRun Laugh Eat PieRuns with Pugs, and me for another Fit Five Friday link-up!

These are my favorite running-related books in no specific order.

• To The Gorge.  It was well written.  I felt like I was there with Emily.  I would love to meet her, give her a hug, and ask about her training.

• The Longest Race.  I knew the issues with Nike, but wow, this book talks about so much more.  This made me like Kara Goucher even more.

• Choosing To Run.  She is my favorite elite runner.  I will always root for her.

• Boston Bound.  It is an easy to read book that details Elizabeth Clor’s struggles as she attempts to get a BQ.  She tried for 7 years and finally qualified in October of 2014.  She ran the Boston Marathon on April 18, 2016.

• The Bright Side Running Club.  This was a book reviewed by Wendy.  It was heart-warming, sad, and funny too.

The topic for next week – Runfessions with Marcia.  We hope you’ll link up with us!

Fit Five Friday and January 2025 Ultimate Coffee Date

Welcome to the January edition of the Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by Coco and Deborah.  It’s also time for another edition of Fit Five Friday hosted by My First 5K and MoreRunning with AttitudeRun Laugh Eat PieRuns with Pugs, and me!

Now, grab a mug of your favorite beverage, and let’s chat!

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I began running again.  I signed up to run/walk 2,025 miles this year.  In order to meet this goal I would have to run/walk a average of 5.55 miles each day.  My first run on Wednesday went well.  It was cold, but I got out there.  It was my first run since November 16 so I didn’t make it to 5.55 miles.  That is OK.  Last year I didn’t start running consistently until February.  My first half marathon is on March 1st so I better start running more.

If we were having coffee…
I’d ask you if you did anything fun on New Year’s.  Things have been tense at home and I was not in a good mood.  I didn’t mind staying home.  I ordered Chinese food for dinner and went to sleep at a decent time.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I am excited about the 4 half marathons I plan to run in the next several months.  I haven’t been running or racing consistently so what better way to do it than by running several half marathons.  🤣

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I am halfway through the school year.  You know it’s been a rocky and exhausting year.  One that I cannot wait for it to be over.  My last day of school is Friday, May 23rd.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that last week I got both the flu and covid vaccines.  I was fine that day but then was not the next day.  Both of my arms hurt.  I had a fever and my whole body ached.  I spent the day in bed watching TV.  But then the following day I was felt fine with the exception of my arms.  They stopped hurting after a few days.

Fit Five Friday: A non-traditional Thanksgiving menu

We’ve got FIVE incredible co-hosts My First 5K and MoreRunning With AttitudeRun Laugh Eat PieRuns with Pugs, and me for another Fit Five Friday link-up!

I love Thanksgiving.  My favorite thing about it is being with family.  The food, not so much.  I am not a big fan of turkey.  I’ll eat it but it isn’t my favorite.  I do like the corn, corn bread, and mashed potatoes.  That’s it.

So, what have I eaten on Thanksgiving?

• Tamales.  Those are popular during Christmas.  There are a variety of them but I prefer the green ones with chicken.  My cousin is planning to make them for Thanksgiving.

• Pollo enchilado.  As I mentioned above, I am not a big fan of turkey.  I prefer chicken.  Add chile and it is ever better!  It does look like a turkey, right?

• Pozole.  There is a place close to my house that makes it really good too in all 3 colors – white, red, and green – and they’re all delicious.

• Mole.  It doesn’t look tasty but it is delicious.  Mole is my mother’s favorite meal.  She is always telling me that we should make mole.  A few years ago I learned to make it thanks to my mother.

• Chinese food, hamburgers, hot dog, etc.  No pictures but you get the idea.

So that is my Thanksgiving menu.  Yes, eating food is part of Thanksgiving, but to me it is more important being together with family.  I don’t need the turkey, gravy, corn bread, and everything else that goes with a Thanksgiving dinner.

Fit Five Friday and November 2024 Ultimate Coffee Date

New Ultimate Coffee DateWelcome to the November edition of the Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by Coco and Deborah.  It’s also time for another edition of Fit Five Friday hosted by My First 5K and More, Running with AttitudeRun Laugh Eat PieRuns with Pugs, and me!

Now, grab a mug of your favorite beverage, and let’s chat briefly!

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I am not a big fan of Halloween but I get into it because of my students.  Most of them dressed up and 4 stayed at home because they do not celebrate Halloween.  In my lesson plans, I had that we would do work in the morning and then spend the last 2 hours doing fun activities.  Nope, the whole day was full of fun activities.  A few said that it was a fun day.  Mission accomplished!  But I went home even more exhausted.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you I saw this figure early one morning.  It was dark and it FREAKED ME OUT.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that it doesn’t bother me that I am losing my Starbucks stars.  I don’t go there often so I knew it would be a matter of time.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I signed up for a few more half marathons next year.  I am already going to Fargo, ND at the end of May.  I will be running in Myrtle Beach (SC) on March 1st, Albuquerque (NM) on April 5th, and Olathe (KS) on April 26th.  I will be crossing off 4 states from my 50 states +1 list.  That leaves me with 3 more to go (Wyoming, South Dakota, and Idaho).  Yay!

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I had plans to go to Boston in April to spectate the Boston Marathon.  I waited too long.  The tickets that are available are either not convenient or too expensive.  So since I am not going anymore, I am now able to go to Kansas for a half marathon.
