Fit Five Friday and January 2025 Ultimate Coffee Date

Welcome to the January edition of the Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by Coco and Deborah.  It’s also time for another edition of Fit Five Friday hosted by My First 5K and MoreRunning with AttitudeRun Laugh Eat PieRuns with Pugs, and me!

Now, grab a mug of your favorite beverage, and let’s chat!

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I began running again.  I signed up to run/walk 2,025 miles this year.  In order to meet this goal I would have to run/walk a average of 5.55 miles each day.  My first run on Wednesday went well.  It was cold, but I got out there.  It was my first run since November 16 so I didn’t make it to 5.55 miles.  That is OK.  Last year I didn’t start running consistently until February.  My first half marathon is on March 1st so I better start running more.

If we were having coffee…
I’d ask you if you did anything fun on New Year’s.  Things have been tense at home and I was not in a good mood.  I didn’t mind staying home.  I ordered Chinese food for dinner and went to sleep at a decent time.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I am excited about the 4 half marathons I plan to run in the next several months.  I haven’t been running or racing consistently so what better way to do it than by running several half marathons.  🤣

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I am halfway through the school year.  You know it’s been a rocky and exhausting year.  One that I cannot wait for it to be over.  My last day of school is Friday, May 23rd.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that last week I got both the flu and covid vaccines.  I was fine that day but then was not the next day.  Both of my arms hurt.  I had a fever and my whole body ached.  I spent the day in bed watching TV.  But then the following day I was felt fine with the exception of my arms.  They stopped hurting after a few days.

The topic for next week’s Fit Fit Friday – 5 Techniques for Setting and Sticking to Running Goals.  Feel free to write about this or any fitness topic you’d like.  We hope you’ll link up with us!

Woot!! All those half marathons will definitely play a big part in gettino you towards your 2025 goal 😉

I hope so! However, I may have to skip the one in March. Unless I focus on a run/walk method (do more walking than running), I might be able to do it.

Hope the second half of your school year goes a little better for you. Sounds like you have a fun run plan in place for the year

I hope so too. I had a long conversation with my students and told them I want the rest of the school year to be fun.

Sorry that things have been stressful at home. We were home on NYE and I was dozing off before midnight, but I was awake at midnight — and then went right to bed!

2025 is a lot of miles. If I could count my cycling miles I might be able to make it ….

You were awake to welcome the new year! That is great! Me? Nope. 🙂

I like how you already know the last day of school. My husband is also struggling this year, and it’s hard to start back after a break. But, you’ll have your running to keep you sane! I like your goal for the year, and those half marathons sound fun.
I also spent New Year’s Eve at home- I did stay up till midnight, but it was a quiet night.

We get a calendar in March for the following school year and I enter the dates/events in my calendar. It is helpful when I need to make a doctor’s appointment for me or my mom.

Oh no! I’m so sorry you were sick with both of those! Yuck!

I am so excited for your year ahead. I think it’s going to be great!

Good luck with your training and races. It’s always fun to have goals to look forward to reaching!

Thanks! I need some goals/exciting events to look forward to this year.

I’m thinking of starting up running again (but more like jogging, and likely only for shorter distances/interval training…). I hope you have fun with your upcoming races!

I hope the 2nd half of your school year goes by smoothly!

That is exciting! Keep us posted on how the running/jogging goes for you.

The end of the school year will be here before you know it. Time flies. You’ve got some exciting running goals and races coming up! All the best with the training.

It does go by fast! I feel like the last 2 quarters go faster than the first 2 quarters. I am excited about this year!

Thank you for your comment!

I was a late bloomer to this running craziness. One of my coworkers would always talk to me about… Read more ›
