I hope the term “dry scalp” didn’t make you cringe. I’ve suffered from it for years. I think part of it is my fault. I finally wised up and am not having problems with it anymore.

I was one of those people that would wash my hair EVERY SINGLE DAY. Yep, winter, spring, summer, and fall. I know, definitely not good. I used various shampoos to help relieve the itchiness and dryness but nothing helped. Someone suggested Yes to Naturals Tea Tree & Sage Oil Scalp Relief Shampoo and Conditioner and to stop washing it everyday. What? But I sweat a lot and run a lot. How can I not wash my hair? That is just GROSS!! I decided to wash my hair every other day and to just rinse my hair on the days that I don’t wash it. It’s been about 3 weeks and my scalp feels so much better.

Check out my new discounts page HERE. There are a few Rock ‘n’ Roll coming up so make sure to use code “BIBRAVE15″ to save $15 off your race entry. Want to run a Hot Chocolate race? There are also quite a few of them in various cities. When you sign up you can get a BONUS Hot Chocolate branded cap. But each city has a different code so make sure to check out my discounts page.
My room is almost done. I went back to set it up Monday-Wednesday. I had a meeting on Tuesday so could only set up for a few hours. I decided that I would finish as much as I could by Wednesday because I didn’t want to go again till Monday. I still have a few more things to do but will get it done when I go back.
Can you tell that I like pens and Ticonderoga pencils. If you have kids in school, buy those pencils for them.
I also managed to run a couple of days. Monday afternoon I came home tired and took a nap. Then I debated on whether to run or not. Glad I did! I wore my new Oiselle reflective top. For sure drivers saw me on the street!
I ran Thursday, Saturday and Sunday again on the lakefront. Total mileage for this week is 18.06.

It feels good not to have a specific running plan to follow. I have two races in September that I am excited about: Run Mag Mile on September 9 and Chicago Half Marathon/5K on September 24. Check out the sweet swag for these races!

Tomorrow is back to work. Summer break is definitely over. 🙂

I’m linking up with Holly and Tricia for their Weekly Wrap. This week’s host is Madhuri @ Ponder ‘N’ Wonder. Please stop by her blog and show her some love!
Hoping everyone had a good week!

Your classroom looks great!
I’m loving the swag for the Run Mag Mile and the Chicago Half Marathon! I also have two races in September that I’m really looking forward too!
·
Isn’t it great? I love it and am excited about it. 🙂
·
I”m running the Hot Chocolate 15k with my friend Steph. Will you be there?
I wash my hair about every 2-3 days. I’m over the grossness factor.
·
I haven’t decided if I want to do that race. I did it once years ago and hated the logistics but know there have been improvements.
I agree with the grossness factor. I don’t care anymore. My scalp loves me! 🙂
·
Love your class room! That purple really pops.
Great week of workouts. I love that medal. I’m a sucker for anything with a city skyline!
·
Thanks! I have a couple for things to add and it will be ready by Monday. Then there comes a moment when I don’t like it anymore and then make some changes. 🙂
·
What grade do you teach? I have SO much respect and admiration for teachers (well, and also nurses LOL) because you guys have such a tough job that requires an endless amount of love & devotion 😉 Thanks for all you do!! I wash my hair every 2-3 days as well…I’m pretty clever at disguising the ickiness with headbands and messy buns 😉
·
I teach 2nd grade. Thank you! It is a tough job but very rewarding. I’ve been burnt out, angry, and have cried in my room various times. But I take a moment to calm down and continue on with my day.
Rinsing my hair has helped a lot too.
·
I can’t get past the sweaty hair and I have to wash it everyday 🙂
·
Girl, I know what you mean. I just couldn’t do it anymore because of my scalp. Now my scalp loves me!
·
I have psoriasis on my scalp… i have flakes galore. I do not wash my hair everyday… a quick rinse with some conditioner helps out on the days I don’t. I have a thing for pens too.. love them! I’m obsessed with the staedtler triplus right now. Good week of running… I’m looking forward to “running for pleasure” again – I love the freedom you feel when you aren’t training for anything.
·
I’ve heard about those pens and am tempted to buy them. But seriously I have way too many!
And yes just running here and there is the best!
·
Your classroom looks fantastic! I have baby fine hair and really need to wash it every day – workout or not!
·
Thanks! I have a few more things to add and it will be done.
·
I go to set my rom up tomorrow. I am so far behind!
·
Good luck! When do you start school?
·
I skip the wash on days I don’t run. My hair is very thick and completely soaked on running days and will sour if not washed. Thanks for the tip on that shampoo. I have one little spot that itches and drives me insane. Your room looks nice. I hope you have a wonderful school year!
·
Thanks Holly! So far the shampoo has been working for me and my scalp does not itch as much. But it could also be that I am not washing it as often as before. 🤷🏻♀️
·
I have fine hair and have to wash it every day, otherwise it looks greasy. Normally my scalp is fine, but there are days when I need a scalp shampoo. I currently use Dove when I need it, and it smells better than other dry scalp shampoos.
·
I agree about the shampoo. The one I use doesn’t smell that bad but Dove is so much better.
·
Your room looks ready to roll!!
I like that tops, you can be seen for sure 🙂
Winging it is nice, I enjoyed that all summer!
·
Thanks!
·
Hey! Something that works for me re: hair is “co-washing” – where you wash your hair using conditioner on those sweaty days. Your hair gets clean but the conditioner doesn’t strip the scalp of moisture.
·
Great idea! What I have been doing is once a week apply a deep conditioner and go for a run.
·
You did an amazing job with your classroom. I love your dedication to teaching and your students are lucky to have you.
·
Thanks Elizabeth!
·
Love how that Oiselle top is reflective! I would like to do another Hot Chocolate Race. Too bad they don’t have one in Portland. Hope you have a great first day of school!
·
Thanks. That is weird there isn’t one in Portland because there are so many of them across the country.
·
I don’t have to wash my hair every day now, but up until I turned about 42, my hair would have gotten too greasy if I didn’t. I couldn’t have imagined skipping a day back then. It’s good that you’ve found something that works for you!
Have a great school year!
·
Thanks. I just couldn’t stand the thought of sweat in my hair and not washing it. My scalp loves me now and is happy.
·
Thanks! I am just glad my scalp doesn’t itch like before.
·
After leaving the above comment and seeing your reply, I remembered that while living in Utah in my early to mid 20’s my scalp itched terribly during the winter months and I found a special shampoo that helped since I had to shampoo daily. Once I moved back to Virginia where the air wasn’t so dry, I was able to stop using that shampoo and go back to my regular. I’m glad you’ve found relief!
·
Thanks! So far it is working for me now. But it could also be that I am not washing every day. 🙂
·
The swag looked SO good!!! I love a good set of pencils and pens. Makes me want to go back to school. I still have mine from my school days. Thanks for linking up this week!!
·
How cool that you still have your set from your school days. I like to have a variety of pens to pick from depending on my mood.
·
Your classroom looks great! I still can’t believe it’s time for back to school already!
·
Thanks! I know what you mean. Counting down till the day for Thanksgiving break.
