I love to read. I don’t always make time to sit down and read a book, but when I do, I could spend a few hours reading a book. I also like to read books to my students. My favorite are the ones from Dr. Seuss!!!

For some reason I am fascinated by John Grisham’s books. I have a list of all of his books and check it off when I am done reading a book. I did skip a few that were not about lawyers. Currently I am reading “The Rooster Bar” and am liking it so far.
I don’t know exactly how many books I read last year but here are a few that I enjoyed. They’re listed in no specific order.
1. Becoming
It took me a long time to finish it. Once I was done, I felt like Michelle was my BFF. I loved learning about her and her family. She is someone I would love to meet!
2. I am not your perfect Mexican daughter
I think I read this in 2018 but read it again last year because a few of my cousins were talking about it and wanted to discuss it. The book made me sad, angry, and happy. I loved the story but loved even more that I could relate to it.
3. Chicken Soup for the Soul-Running For Good
Who doesn’t love these books? I enjoyed reading the stories from runners talking about their struggles, goals, and accomplishments.
4. Living with a SEAL
I read this book in 2018. Hilarious book. I would not last one day living and training with a SEAL.
I love this Dr. Seuss quote. I always say it to my students.

I read a few of Grisham’s books when he first started, but it’s been a long time since I’ve read one.
I’ve been listening to Michelle Obama’s book on my way back & forth to my parents. Man, that’s a long book!

I would love to get my hands Michelle Obama’s book, I have heard a lot about it.
My favourite book of 2019 was “Deep Work” by Cal Newport. It’s all about focus and learning to work distraction-free. It was a game-changer for me!

I read many of Grisham’s books in the past but nothing recently. I’ve heard Michelle O’s book is fabulous but haven’t read it.

I read Becoming last year and really enjoyed it as well. I actually listened to it as an audio book and it was cool because she was the narrator so you could hear it in her own voice.

That must have been awesome! It is hard for me to listen to an audiobook because I like to hold the book. I’ve read a few ebooks when I could not get my hands on the actual book.

I’m a huge Dr. Seuss fan, too! He was such a literary genius. I liked his books as a kid, but LOVED them as an adult. They were among the favorites that I read to/with my kids.

Yes I am a huge Grisham fan I love to read legal thriller also by Baldacci.

We’ve got such similar taste in reading!!! I’m a huge John Grisham fan but I too stayed away from the books that weren’t law-based! Becoming has been sitting on my shelf since Christmas 2018 and I’ve desperately wanted to read it. Just need to make time for it. Like you say about the Mexican book, I love stories that I can relate to on a personal level – especially if there are echoes of my upbringing or culture or something that may not apply to everyone not in that situation/ position. It’s great that you read to your students – my son’s favourite time at school is storytime at the end of the day. It’s the only thing he mentions when I ask how school was. 🙂

Is story time. Reading is so important and it makes me sad to see that some kids do not like it.

Great selection and variety! I still have The Hate U Give on my nightstand, but I’m just not mentally ready for it. I have to get there.
