Tuesday Topics: Thankful for running this year

This week’s Tuesday Topic is:  Tell us why you’re thankful for running this year!  You can write about this topic or feel free to post any running related blog post.  Remember to link up with Kim and Zenaida!  Visit at least two of the other linked posts – the more the merrier!  Remember to come back for later linkers!

Thank you everyone for entering my birthday giveaway!  I am seriously the worst blogger and have not read your post and/or comment from last week’s post.  I will do that soon.  However, Rafflecopter picked the winner for the giveaway and that lucky person is Darlene!

What a year this has been!  However, I will say that I feel like it is better than last year.  Would you think so too?

At the end of August I finished my one year running streak.  When I first started I didn’t think I would make it to a year.  There were a few times that I wanted to quit.  But I kept going.  I remember that in the beginning of August I felt tired and exhausted.  I wasn’t feeling as motivated anymore.  But I still did not want to quit.  I kept going.  Now I am training for a 50k!  I told myself I didn’t want to run a marathon anymore.  🤣 🤣

Running has brought me joy.  It has also brought me peace.  It has given me more confidence.  It has brought me some of my biggest supporters (YOU)!  Thank you!

Running is my ME time.  I think about life.  I make plans for the day.  I think about what to do with my students.  As I am running in the dark, I feel like I am in my own world.  It is a strange but comforting feeling.

Running got me through some of the toughest months of the school year.  This past school year was definitely the worst year for me.  I wanted to quit.  I cried a lot.

I plan to continue running for as long as I can.  I still have my 50+ states goal to finish.  Just a few more states to go.

Thank you again for being there for me.  Thank you for your encouragement and support.  ❤️ ❤️

Well done on finishing your 1-year running streak, Zenaida! That’s a running goal that I find very daunting. I have tried 40-day running streaks and even that tired me out, never mind 365 days!
I’m looking forward to following your 50k-training. So exciting!

I am so thankful for running – it’s a great way to keep fit and to experience new adventures!

It was a crazy thing to do but I did it!

Woo Hoo. I’m so happy I won.

And yes some of us focus on what’s going wrong. But running makes us feel better. We are lucky that we are able to do it.

I wish when I was a teacher I had discovered running. I may have stayed a teacher.

Good luck with your 50k training. Keep us posted on your progress.

The sweat and the movement from running is a good feeling.

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving, and enjoy your time off. Great job on that 1-year streak, that’s a BIG accomplishment. My RW Winter Streak will be starting on Thursday (I guess, technically it starts tomorrow since I’ll be #5at5’ing with Barb in the early morning).

How awesome on your Winter streak! I think it goes till the end of the year?

Running is something that I am always thankful for, and whenever I deal with injuries, I have to remind myself how lucky I am to participate in this activity! I think this year in a lot of ways is tougher than last year, which is crazy, right?

Sometimes an injury is a wake up call for us to realize just how wonderful running is.

The fact that you blog at all with all you have on your plate is pretty darn amazing, Zenaida! We all understand.

I do wish I could say 2021 was better than 2020, but it wasn’t. But that’s life. This phase of my life will be over at some point ..

Thanks, Judy. I want to be more consistent. I am still trying to find a balance with my job and my personal life. I am done at 3pm and there is no reason I have to stay past that (unless I have a meeting).

Congrats on a one-year running streak. While I am keeping an exercising streak, I’ve never attempted a running streak…. that’s pretty amazing (maybe I’d do it if I had a treadmill, but I don’t).

I am so thankful what we all have running to rely on during these hard times.

An exercise streak is also amazing! Great job! I don’t have a treadmill either and there were many times I wanted to quit. We had a horrible Winter with a lot of snow.

I totally agree about running being your “me” time. When you are super busy and doing so much, running is a healthy escape from it. There have been times in my life where running was my place to vent and cry and as soon as it was over, it was back to it. Keep it up and keep getting those miles in!

      Thank you!

Yes, can you imagine life without running? It would be so flat and blah. i’m glad it helped get you through a difficult year! Yes, I think this year’s better- not as great as we might have imagined, but better than last year! Hope you’re enjoying some time off for the holiday.

I am glad teachers and students are in the classroom, we are no longer in lockdown, and we can travel. Yes, not like we might have imagined but we can do more this year than last year.

With the tough teaching year you’ve had I’m so happy running has brought you some peace, me-time and space for reflection. I think for us (as a country) 2021 was worse than 2020 – we lost so many more people to the pandemic, and it took so long to get vaccinated. But as we near the end of the year, things are really looking up and I hope this is a good sign for 2022!

I hope 2022 is even better!

Running is definitely my “me time” as well. I am so appreciative of it!

I love this! Running has given us so much, and like you, I especially love running alone in the dark. It’s so peaceful!

Thank you for your comment!
