Now, grab a mug of your favorite beverage, and let’s chat!

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you today is my last week of Spring Break.  I go back to work on Monday and then it will be 7 weeks left of school.  Pretty amazing.  This week is just what I needed to unwind and relax.  I watched TV, finished reading a book and started another one.  I also took care of a few things in the house.  I haven’t finished unpacking and that is OK.  Though sometimes I do get stressed when people come over and they see my mess.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I haven’t run since January when I made a big deal about starting the new year with a run and my goal of running/walking 2,025 miles.  I seriously lost my motivation afterwards.  The weather didn’t help.  I closed on my house in January and while I didn’t move right away, I bought some things for it and had a few things done before moving in.  The weather didn’t help as I didn’t want to run in the cold weather.  Then I moved and still no running.  Maybe tomorrow?

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that since I haven’t been running, I haven’t raced either.  Remember last year how excited I was about the races I signed up to run in various states?  Ugh!  I try not to think about it because that is money down the drain.  I did manage to defer the race in Myrtle Beach, but not the ones in New Mexico and Kansas.  I don’t think I will manage to run in Fargo, ND at the end of May.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that now that I am a homeowner and have to make a mortgage payment, I cringe when I see how much money exactly goes towards the principal.  Unfortunately, I bought my house when the interest was high and hopefully I can refinance to lower my payment.  What I am doing is whatever extra money I make from my extracurricular activities at school, I send it to the bank towards the principal.  Any extra money will help.

If we were having coffee…
I’d tell you that I plan to be more consistent with posting on my blog.  Thanks to my blogging friends for continuing to post and keeping up with the linkups.

I hope April is a wonderful month for everyone!

Sounds like a well-deserved break, Zenaida!
Unpacking can be overwhelming, but it’s great you’ve had time to relax and recharge. Hopefully, things will fall into place soon so that you can get back to running. Bummer about the races, but deferring is smart!
Here’s to a smooth April ahead!

Thanks, Catrina. Panicking won’t help. I will go slow and unpack when I can. Family and friends that visit will understand.

Well, you haven’t been running but you bought a house!!! I know that’s been a long-time goal of yours, so congratulations.
We have eight weeks left of school! I always say, once spring break is over the rest of the school year just speeds by. Glad you were able to relax this week. Oh, and don’t worry about the mess. I remember when we moved into our house, a friend came over and I apologized about the boxes and she was like “Are you KIDDING me? It took me over a year to unpack when I moved!” People will understand!

Thank you. Yes, I finally bought a house after many, many years. These next 7 weeks will go by fast and I cannot wait.

Sounds like you are settling into your new house nicely! It takes a long time and there is always some project to tackles!

    1. Zenaida Arroyo Avatar

Exactly. The projects are never-ending, at least for a couple of years till I am settled in.

Buying a home is all-consuming – you’ll get back to running when you’re ready. I’m glad you had a relaxing spring break! Will you be teaching again this summer?

    1. Zenaida Arroyo Avatar

Yes, I will be teaching Summer School again. It will be a nice payment towards my mortgage.

It sounds like you enjoyed your spring break. Maybe if you set small goals like “I’m going to unpack one box a week” it won’t seem so overwhelming to you. I find breaking things down into smaller chores seems more doable.

You’ve very smart to pay down the principal as much as you can.

I do something similar when I pack up my classroom. I did something similar when I was packing things up in my apartment. It makes it easier and not as overwhelming. The stuff I need to unpack needs to go in the basement and I cannot unpack until the renovations are done. I should have mentioned that in my post.

Smart move paying extra on the principal for your house. hose little extra installments will make a difference 😉 I hear ya on the unpacking and organizing in your new place! I spent a lot of time, in the first few days, getting most of the main floor rooms done (I took ownership on a Thursday, so I had four days to get a substantial jumpstart on all that “fun” stuff).

    1. Zenaida Arroyo Avatar

Four days is not enough time but you do what you want with the time you have.

If you start this weekend… you still have 3/4 of the year to get the miles in! So as they say at Nike “Just DO it!!”

Moving takes a ton of time and energy. I hope you’re enjoying your new space!

I did! I began walking on Saturday and explored my neighborhood. This will I will start running and walking. Thanks for the push!

I think we all lose our motivation from time to time. At least you had house-buying as a great excuse!

So glad to have you back. I’m sorry you’re missing out on some events, but you’ll get back to it!

Here’s hoping the next seven weeks fly by!

    1. Zenaida Arroyo Avatar

I don’t think I’ve gone this long without running. This weekend, I began with walking and exploring my neighborhood. This week I will start running and walking.

Ah, totally understandable! Home ownership comes with so many to do lists and can be so exhausting! I hope things calm down more for you and that you’re able to refinance in the future!!

    1. Zenaida Arroyo Avatar

I hope so, too. These payments are ridiculous!

Buying a house is a big life event that sucks up a lot of time and energy.
Good idea to pay extra principal when you can.

    1. Zenaida Arroyo Avatar

I want to make money when I sell it to have for retirement. The way things are going now, I will need lots and lots of money.

It is really hard to stop running and then try to start again. I just stopped for week being sick and I kept procrastinating each day.

I will still race but I know I’m not prepared and I hope I don’t whine too much about how badly they went.

Once you get settled in your house, you’ll get back to your running routine. I’m sure of it.

    1. Zenaida Arroyo Avatar

I will start this week with running and walking. Nothing crazy to avoid an injury.

Congrats on home ownership! It’s a lot for sure but well worth it. You are smart to pay down on that principal. 7 weeks are going to fly by and then hello summer break! I am so looking forward to that.

    1. Zenaida Arroyo Avatar

I knew home ownership was hard, but I didn’t realize how much. I know it is worth it, and I am much happier now knowing that it is MY house and I bought it all by myself.
